I am looking for any information on the Camera ( possibly Cameron)family from Tarrytown New York area via Naples , Italy. I believe family members who came over from Italy were Benjamin and Mary Cameron (camera). I am the great-Great-Grandson of Benjamin from my mother's side. Other names on that side are William H Camera,Gertrude Camera, Grace Camera, Bernard Camera,Cristana, Raplh, Katherine and Joseph B Camera.

Any help would be appreciated and my tree would be open in return!

Hi Rosina,
When I first read your post I didn't feel there was any connection, because I knew for sure that my Great Grandmother Rosina Camera had past away in 1930 in Bradford PA. My sister just returned from a Camera Family reunion in Altavilla Silentina, Italy, where she learned that Roisna's mother Maria Louisa Di Christofaro past away in apx 1898, her father Germano Camera remarried and had another daughter sometime after 1930 whom he also named Rosina and that she had died in the war. So I am thinking there may be a connection and was wondering if know what your father's mother's name is and if you do would share that with me.

I am not sure. I am first generation over here. My dad was adopted after WWII, and his blood father came to the US and started another family.

Wow this is really close to my dad's family.

Germano Camera (My grandfater) left Italy and came over here and remarried. In Italy he had a family; Rosina (The oldest) died in Salerno during the American Invasion, Giovanni (Johnny) my dad is living here in Texas, Tarsilla, Lea and Livia were still in Italy. Now there is only my dad Johnny and Lea. Does this sound like anything that you are looking for?

I am searching for information on Germano (James) Camera, born 3/25/1957 in Altavilla Silentina, Italy, died 1/5/1945 in Bradford PA. He had six children Giovannia, Rosina, Anna, Christina, Frank and Thomas. His brother Giovanni (John) married Cristina Izzolo, his daughter Rosina married Cristina's brother Carmine Izzolo (Ezzolo). Rosina and Carmine's son Guiseppe (Joseph) Ezzolo is my Grandfather.

Germano Camera from Altavilla Silentina, Salerno, Italy lived in the Bradford, PA area. There is a record of his arrival at Ellis Island in 1902 but that was not his original immigration date. He had a family in Pennsylvania at that time and we are told that he also had a family in Italy. One of his daughters was Anna Camera, who was my wife's grandmother, who was born 15 Sep 1892 in PA. She married Salvatore "Sam" Sambroia who had also come from Altavilla.

My Grandmother`s name was Filomina Della Camera before she married my Grandfather Domenick Teresino, (Tresino) and he came to America from Italy first and then he wrote to her and then she came over. Is this your family name without the Della in front? I know that there are some Della Camera`s in Rhode Island. Patty

There are quite a few Cameras in Ohio. Two brothers came over from Italy in the early 1900's. Joseph had 10 children (one of them being my grandfather, Leonard, who also had ten children!(Michael, one of that 10,is my father) I have 34 first cousins from the Camera side of the family and we have close relatives in CA, GA, FL, and MI to name a few!

My grandparents on my father's side were immigrants in the 1890s (I think). My father Edward G. Camera was born iin 1911 in NYC. He had brothers Nicky and Patty. His systers were Mildred Feminelli (after marriage) who lived in NY. Another system Mary Levan (after marriage) lived in Clifton NJ. My father died in 1966 and I lost touch with his side of the family.

I don't really have any other info on the Camera's Except for names of Angelo and Madenlina's children. They are Rosa born ca1885-NJ and Florence born ca 1898-NJ and Mary born ca 1880-MJ according to the 1920-Mercer Co. NJ census. Mary Camera married Raymond Snyder 18 Aug 1912-Mercer Co. NJ.

I'm not sure. I will have to check my records, that are kept at my parents house. I am looking specifically for any Camera. My grandfather was born on May 24, 1857, named Genaro. He married a Rosaria Laurina in Italy and had a couple of children in which one was my dad, the only son, from this marriage. He was married again, and had a son James or Jimmy in the States somewhere, who had a sister in Italy. The cities in Italy are Salerno and Alta Villa. Thank you for your help.

Jerry's grandmother was Mary Camera born ca1880-Italy and her parents were Angelo Camera born ca1850-Italy and Madenlina Episcopo born ca1852-Italy both came to the US in 1881. Does this seem to connect?
