looking for info on my great grandparents who emigrated from villarosa in 1885, I believe, to phila. Their children were theresa, josephine,who was my grandmother, elsie, frank. They resided on master street in phila. & are buried in Holy Cross cemetery in Yeadon, pa.

Hi, I believe we are cousins. My father, Gaetano Sciandra, died in 2005. His father was Filippo Sciandra who died approx. 1945 in Villarosa, Sicily. Filippo's 1st wife was Cologera Cosentino who died around 1917. I also have been searching for more info.

I'm looking for any information related to Vito and Angelina (Blandina) Reina. Vito had two brothers, Joseph and Salavtore and a sister Conchetta. I know that they settled in Bayone, NJ and or Philadelphia. Mary (Marie) Reina married Nicholas Valle, in Philadelphia. Mary and Nicholas are my fathers parents (Anselmo Valle).

Alfonso Sciandra, from Villarosa, Sicily was my grandfather. He was married to Carmela Cosentino. She passed away and he later married my grandmother, Maria Sutera. I found out that his brother's name was Filippo Sciandra. I've been putting together my family tree and trying to get as much information as I can. I would love to find out who the parents of Alfonso and Filippo are, or any other information that anyone may have. I appreciate any help.

I just found out that my great grandmother's name was Francesca Paola Cammarata. She lived in Palermo and married Cono Gianni. (They were my maternal grandmother's parents.) My grandmother's name was Francesca Paola Gianni, but she used the name Elvira. Her mother, Fr Paola Cammarata, died very soon after Elvira was born and Cono remarried and came to the US. I can't find any records about Fr Paola Cammarata. (like exactly when she died, how she died etc.) My grandmother (Elvira) was raised in a convent in Palermo. Vincenzo Gianni, my grandmother's older brother came to the US and eventually sent for her. When she arrived she married Emmanuele Polito (my grandfather), who had been here since he was about 10. If anyone knows anything about these relatives please email! I'd love to know more.

gaspera was born to francesco cammarata and mariannna palermo. gaspera and francesco paolo palermo married in boston on 1 jan 1911(MVR) she arrived in the us on 25 may 1909 along with her sister marianna. in addition to her, she had a brother giuseppe, gaspare(jasper), salvatore(Sammy), and frank. she also had a sister antononia, maria/marianna, and angelina.

frank paul born 15 mar 1913. died 10 mar 2000 freedom nh

Ms Cammarata.. looking through old pictures, I came across one that my mother had 1943 of a close family friend of the Giangrossos/ Servellos in Dallas, TX.: Cammarata Family. Don't understand the writing on back of picture, but did get may 1943. If you are interested I can send a copy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cataldo and Lena Cammarata; and a brother, Al (Fran) Cammarata and a beloved brother Bill, who was killed in action during World War II.

Rose Ann was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She taught literacy and was a member of St. Michael Church in Canfield, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home Inc., 460 Lincoln Ave. in Bellevue, Pa., where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m.

I realize you're getting this quite a few years late, but sometimes better late than never, right? Try putting this in the address bar and then when you get to the page, make sure you switch it from "Spanish" to "Italian" in the 'Origins Available' section so you get the proper crest. I think they must be different people. Frank Palermo, my grandfather was born in January of 1905. Frank, my father was born in May of 1935.

probably not. my great grandfather Frank came from italy to Boston and died in 1924. his son, my grandfather, lived in Boston and NH.

I am not in contact with my father and I only learned about him last year. I have been doing research and believe I have found him. I knew his name and that his father was the head of the Philly mob. This was Frank "Blinky" Palermo. He ran the boxing and there are lots of documents out there about him. I am not sure how many sons he had. I think 3 of them. I think his parents were born in Italy. I had found a death certificate for the grandfather, Frank "Blinky" Palermo, on Ancestry. He died at 91 years of age in Philadelphia. Any chance we are talking about the same Frank?

I have not had any responses. I do not know if my grandfather had any nicknames, but i do know all his children and their children (my cousins) except one so i doubt it is the same. But his father was also Frank Palermo and that is who i am trying to find out more info on. Do you have info on your Palermo family you can share? maybe we can make a connection.

Hey cousin. I was doing a search on my own and found you here. Anyway, a couple of notes. There are still about 30 Cammarata's listed in Sicily in the town of Villarosa, region of Enna. You should be able to find some relatives there. Also, the LDS has a website that has records from Villarosa that go back to 1748. I used these resources to find the Vicari's back to about 1760. Anyway, I'll be visiting back east next week and plan to make a trip to visit your mom. Best,

Son ( Salvatore Angelo Cammarata immigrated into US through Ellis Isl. and he worked as a waiter in New York before moving to Ybor City Florida where he made cigars at a factory which is now Ferlita Bakery Museum. Salvatore then moved to Milwaukee.

My grandfathers name was Salatore J Cammarata, born in palermo.Oct 20 1919 has a brother Angelo, Tony, Sonny, and sister Sara. He lived in a town in Ashtrabula, Ohio and married Rose Marie Plecia.

I am not sure if I have any infomation that would help you... I can only tell you that I have an Uncle name Rossario who was named after his mother's brother... His mother, my Grandmother was
Francesca Paola Cammarata.... .. I think her brother Rosario was older than she...She came to the United states from Villa Bata a providence of Palermo in 1920... I have a little more info if you want it...

By the way, my uncle Rossario goes by the names Sardi and Russ ... he has a daughter name Paula... Funny if we were counsins, looking for the same information on the Cammarata's

I amlooking for information on a Gasparina Cammarata born in Italy,married Frank Palermo also born in Italy. Not sure if they married in Italy or in United States.Lived in Boston in early 1900's. Had three sons - Albert, Frank and Victor. She remarried before 1930 possibnly before 1920. There is a daughter listed on the 1930 census but do not know if this is a Palermo or the daughter of her second Husband, Stephen Maragooglio (info off the 1930 census). The Daughter's name is Marion.
Frank Palermo (the son) was my grandfather and was born March 15, 1913. Albert was born about 1912 , Victor around 1916 and Marion around 1920. All children were born in Massachusetts.
Any information will be appreciated.

I am beginning my search for my family; grandfather Joseph Cammarata, born 12/10/1905, immigrated to New York from Italy (Sicily I think) with his parents. I can find census records, but no immigration records. Joseph later married Dorothy (Harrington) in New York and had children. Any help on finding my family and/or records would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, can someone tell me if Joseph is the "American" name of Giuseppe?

The family initially settled in Pennsylvania. At first, they were in Central PA (Indiana, Winber) and then, because his first two sons got scholorships to the University of Pittsburgh, the family moved to Pittsburgh. I know that many have relocated to other parts of the county. I had been told that there were quite a few in New England, some in Michigan and some in Illinois.

As a child, my grandmother told me there were relatives in Argentina but she didn't provide many details other than the fact they were there.

Oh, and my uncle told the story that we were somehow related to the actor, Tony Franciosa. Remember him?

My grandfather was Angelo Cammarata and he married Rosalie DeJunieo from Villarosa. Apparently, the both family's came from there. My grandfather was one of 8 children (6 brothers and one sister) and he was born in 1870. Any connection???

My grandfather was Rosario Cammarata born 7-3-1881 and lived in Villarosa provance of Caltanisetta His parents were Michael and Frances He immigrated to the USA from the port of Naples, Campania and arrived at Ellis Island on 4-21-05. He first lived in New York and then moved to Winber, PA where he married Rose Maiorana on 6-23-12 They moved to Pittsburgh around 1920 They had 6 children - One brother lived in Boston One brother - Sam had a son Angelo who has a bar in the Bellvue area of Pittsburgh and has had that bar since the 1940"s his son now runs it. Angelo is still living Any information iwill be grately appriaciated

I am looking for information on Giuseppi Salllemi who married Maria Cammarata. They were from Biscari, Siracusa, Sicily.
Giuseppi and one daughter, Vincenza, moved to Chicago, Il in 1916. Manifest states his wife, Maria Cammarata was still in Biscari. In 1919, another daughter, Francesca Sallemi m. Giovanni Damati, moved to Chicago. Manifest indicates no relatives of Francesca remained in Biscari. Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to tie Giuseppi to my g-grandmother Vincenza Sallemi m. Francesco Carrubba, all from Biscari.
