I am looking for Robert L. Camp, a General in the Civil War. He built a plantation in 1850, named Woodlawn, but called Indian Camp because it was built where an Indian camp was once located. I know he was born in Georgia, I think he died in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1894 it became the Louisiana State Leporsarium. In 1999 it became the administrative headquarters for the Louisiana National Guard. I cannot find Robert L. Camp, his parents, his death.. although I did find a Robert Camp in New Orleans. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. He is not in my direct line, however I can't find where he fits. I am descended from Thomas Camp. I know there is a connection. I am wondering if Robert L. Camp was possibly from Alabama, rather then Georgia.
