The magic of Google has brought me your posting. I was looking for Rev. E.V. Campbell of St. Cloud, Minnesota.

It would appear that he was headmaster at a school there in 1868. See p 382 of History of the Upper Mississippi Valley
By H. N. Winchell, Newton Horace Winchell, Edward Duffield Neill, John Fletcher William

I'm trying to learn the history of an academy at St. Cloud before the Civil War, which may have been this same school. Can you type in the entire text of the ostcard for me? Would be delightful to make this person more real to me. He may be the same Rev. Campbell that I read about in a pre-Civil War context. Having the name of Mary Charlotte Campbell gives me a lead in my investigations. Thanks!
Linda Bryan

I have a 1919 postcard written from Firenze (Florence), Italy to Mrs. Mary Charlotte Campbell, c/o Rev/ EV Campbell, St Cloud MN. Evidently the writer, Mary O.(or J?)was there on a visit.

I don't know how it came into my possession, but I'd be delighted to pass it on to a descendant or relative, if there is one, or a historical society in the area.

Campbells from Texas to Kentucky

I was wondering if anyone had a Mary Ruth Campbell b. about January 1867, and died about 1902 in Spencer county Kentucky. She married Edward Lee Rice abt. 1885 probably in Spencer County, Kentucky He was born June 16, 1865
in Shelby County, Kentucky and Died October 19, 1936 and buried in Spencer County, Kentucky.
I have been told that the Campbells came from Texas back to Kentucky and wondered if anyone might have run across her in their research. I do not know who her parents are, have not been able to verify them.
I have seen some census that could be her family, but I do not know for sure.
One is a J. P. Campbell b.1838 in Kentucky and married an Elizabeth who could be a Moore, but not sure at this time.
One could be be a Hue Campbell that married a Margaret Unknown with both born in Kentucky. Hue Campbell moved to Texas so this could be the family I am looking for. The info I received said they could not find any info on Mary Ruth Campbell. But had found info on all his other children.
Have you ran across her in your research? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi, glad to hear from you. This may be a connection. I don't have all that much on this person but will give you what I have.
I got the information on John from a cousin. According to 1850 census I found 2 John Campbells and both were born in Ireland. One as a teacher and one as a student in a Roman Catholic College.
Jno. Campbell born about 1829, wife Fanny (last name unknown) born about 1832. They had 2 daughters, Susan born about 1850 and Malissa bon about 1853. Malissa is my great grandmother.
I have that Malissa married Elbert O (Osborn) Yerks. Also have his as Albert. They married March 17, 1869 by Rev. PR Hawxhurst . They were married in Chappaqua, New York. This info came from "Westchester County Marriages, compiled by Elizabeth Fuller. In some other notes I have that Fanny's name was Mary Duggan. Not sure on this. It also lists a brother Frederick born 1858.
Osborn is my MAJOR stone wall. He and Malissa had 3 sons. Leonard, Franklin and Fred. I also found a mention of a daughter Jane listed on a census as being born in Jan 1870 but no other mention. I have some info on their children and spouses and their children, but not much. Will be happy to write and see what we can come up with.
Thanks for your reply, Ruth Anne

Where was John born? My g-g-grandfather had a brother named John who was born about that time. Probably around 1830. He was born in Nothern Ireland and came to North America but was never in contact with my ancestor after his arrival. I assume they just lost track of each other.

Do you know where in PA? My grandfather William Campbell was born in Latrobe and he and his siblings were placed in an orphanage at a young age. We have been trying to locate them. We found information on one brother Ross who has passed away, but nothing else. My grandfather's father's name was William and his mother's name was either Mary Elizabeth or Elizabeth. We believe, according to grandpa's birth notice that it was Mary Elizabeth.

Campbell in County Donegal, Ireland?

My immigrant ancestor, Moses Cuthbert/Culbert, from Letterkenny, Conwal Civil Parish, County Donegal, Ireland, named his second daughter Margaret Campbell Culbert (3rd child), who was born 31 May 1837 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Knowing that many old country immigrants followed a naming convention that honored relatives, I was wondering if Campbell might be a family relation to the Cuthbert/Culberts in Ireland. The first two children had middle names honoring Moses' wife's parents, so Campbell might be the maiden name of Moses' mother.

Does anyone out there have known Campbell family in the Letterkenny area? If so, I'd sure like to hear from you!

My name is Deborah L. Campbell, my father was William R. Campbell ( September 22 1928 in Danbury Ct died December 28 1995 in Greewood WV and buired in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Va.) Parents: Mary (Stewart) Campbell ( from Pennsboro WV ) and William Elmer Campbell.
I grew up in the military and we never knew any of the Campbell family something to do with the death of William Elmer. William Elmer was born in Ohio, .. thinking about 1900's. He was also buired there sometime in the 50's. Don't know when or where him and Mary Stewart were married but Elmer was living in Smithville WV at the time. Don't know his parents or siblings. My father was their oldest child (the stories are that Mary Stewart was pregnant with my dad when they got married.) they had two more sons: Robert M. Campbell 1929, and James L. Campbell ??.
If you can help me or point me in the right direction I would be forever greatfull. ssheebe@yahoo.com
