My father was born in 1904 in Sonora, Mexico, his name is Pedro and he had a sister named Trinidad. There mother's name, my grandmother, was also named Trinidad. He was born in Hermosillo, Sonora.

{CAMP"U"S} is an old Latin surname. Many of the people with this latin surname are of Italian origin. Many of the people with that surname are found today through out Italy.

Just located my great-grandfather's baptismal record from Arispe, Sonora, Mexico. He was born January 28 or 29, 1857. His father's name is clearly written Campus. It does not appear to be a typo. I am interested in learning more about the name's origin.

Family ties

Any information on the William Frank Campus (or Campos) family would be appreciated. My birth certificate says Campos - yet my father goes by Campus. I spoke with him once, 20+ years ago. I was not willing to upset his family I told him I would not bother him again. My mother died in 1996 I am now wanting answers. Probably too many years too late; but, my father's birth certificate says he was born 24 April 1924 in San Francisco to a Mary Magdalene (I can't remember my Grandfather's name). I know he lived in Mountain View, CA in the mid '70s with his wife Ruth. (She was a pleasant person who was not very surprised; and was helpful in getting my father to call me.) Beyond that - there isn't much else I know, so any info anyone else could input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, JAS
