I'm wondering if you could possibly help me? I have a huge gap in my family tree from my grandfather, Francis Marion Canan/Canaan born 09 Feb 1906 in Knox, Starke Co., Indiana. I know his grandfather was John Alonzo Canaan who was born on 13 Sep 1852 in Knox, Starke Co., Indiana. His grandmother was Mary Canaan. Now this is were the gap starts...John A. Canaan evidently married two woman (1) Mary Etta (2) Marietta, 1900 Knox, Indiana census shows her as Mary Ella. Through one of these marriages my grandfather's mother was born, as to which one I'm lost. I know his mother went by the name Cora Canaan. Cora had two brothers, Fred Canaan and Floyd Canaan. My grandfather never really knew his mother well, and does not know who his father was as 'Cora' was unwed when she gave birth to him. My grandfather was raised and lived with his Uncle Fred Canaan in Knox, Indiana.
