The Indian Blood on the Raulerson family is not Cherokee. They have Saponi and Catawba Indian blood. I descend down from John Rawlinson/Raulerson, then Jacob Raulerson, then David May Raulerson and then Mary Isabelle Raulerson my Grt Grandmother. I've done extensive research on the Non-White Ancestry of the Raulerson family. Majority of my Daddy's side of the family are buried in the Old Raulerson cemetery in Pierce County, GA on the Little Satilla River.

Hello. I do not have anything on your Andrew Kennedy, however I am wondering if you might help me with an Andrew Kennedy, son of a John Kennedy, and Andrew's son John Kennedy. Do you happen to have any information on these men who were in what became Columbia County, Georgia? The father John has land 3 miles above Fort Augusta, Colonial Georgia. Since this does not specifically answer your question, you may contact me at hyhands@charter.net. Thank you for your time.

Looking for info on my 9th great grandfather, Andrew Kennedy Jr. I have much on him... but have yet to find anything on his parents. I have seen people write that his father is Navy Captain Andrew Kennedy b. @1703 but have never seen documentation. This Kennedy line is Massachusetts based, sometimes written Canaday. Andrew Jr was married to Amee Wentworth.

My connection is... Andrew Jr, Benjamin, Benjamin Jr, Keilah, Keilah Jr, Walter, Gladys, Miriam Hurd, Ann Burke, me.

Likewise, I'm from James and Clara Andis, as follows:

James Issaac and Clara Andis Cannady
Paul Victor and Anna Bernice Cannady Walker
Robert Gene and Clara Margaret Walker Fearrin
Then, of course I too am a Clara

There is a mention in David Quinn's testimony for Revolutionary War pension that he was with Thomas Canady and his brother. The translation seems to note a Will? William? Willet? There is a Willet from the county but not with a brother Thomas. There were brothers Thomas and William born to Richard and Martha Canaday, however they are one generation too old (Th = 1720, Will=1718). Perhaps our Thomas comes from one of them or their brothers (Edward, Cornelius, Enoch)?

Then again, maybe you've looked into this already.

I have nothing new on this line. However, I did want to introduce myself to you and other researchers. I am the great-great granddaughter of James Harrison and Amanda Bowman Cannady/Canady, etc. My research and source material is posted on Val's site (as you mentioned, http://andis.azboman.net/index.html). From Harrison, my line is:

James Isaac and Clara Andis Cannady
Calvin Laverne and Hildred Waggoner Cannady
John Lee and Margaret Cannady Duckworth
Also looking into Thomas Canady (Canada, Kennady, Kenneday) b. 1763 Duplin Co, NC m. Sarah? /m.2 Nancy Bishop. There is mention of Joseph and Joseph Sr in the 1784-1786 state census..perhaps he's the second son of Joseph Sr? Not sure if you've found anything new in the last 6 years..

To note my lineage from there:
Thomas (Sarah ?) Canady b1763-d1851
Daniel (Fannie ?) Canady b1794-d1850s?
James Harrison (Amanda Bowman) Canady b1844-d1930
whose descendants can be found on http://andis.azboman.net/index.html (site ran by a Valerie Boman)

Canaday Family in New Castle, Indiana

Haven't work on this line but have some info.

A guy out there found a huge monument dead center in the local cemetery. Looks like the Lincoln Memorial.

Anyway, it is the family of Miles Canaday. This is all I really have on him:

Miles Murphy Canaday was born August 17, 1851. He married Sarah Hellena Smith on May 10, 1883. They lived in New Castle, Indiana.

He was a son of Nathan Canaday:

NATHAN CANADAY (note spelling) was born April 9, 1807. He married Nancy Leason on April 23, 1824. She was a daughter of James and Jemima Leeson. She was born in 1808. Nancy was not a member of the Quaker Church and so Nathan was disowned. The family joined the Christian Church in Richmond, Indiana. He then moved his family to what was called the Harvey Settlement in Prairie Township, Henry County Indiana. He was a physician. Nathan died May 25, 1874. Nancy lived on for another year and died in 1875. They had ten children:

So, would be interested in adding the next generation or so to that sheet. Anyone connected???

You can see what I have on the various Canaday lines on my website at www.BillPutman.com then go to genealogy to Canaday to Charles Canady.

Would have been easier to be a part of the I group, the Viking-infused Canadays... Any enlightenment you can give us as we sift through this data would be appreciated!

That's our dilemma right now. My father always said we were Scottish English. I have a Scottish friend who says a Scotsman wouldn't be caught dead being referred to as English and the Irish Kennedys are so closely tied to Scotland, it's hard to figure out where our closest Canaday ties are. In the beginning, it was all the same. Male cousin has just had DNA testing and we are trying to decifer the results as I type this.

Hi,
I've started a reply several time but keep getting it deleted before I finish. So I will be brief. My father was born in 1904 in Harrison County, Missouri. He told me that he can remember his grandfather, Christopher Canaday, born in 1843 in McLean County, Illinois, talking about wearing of the Orange. This has meant to me that the Canadays were Irish Protestants. I can't prove this but I thought I would mention it.
Carlton Canaday
vegas80@spinn.net

I know, my dilemma too. It took me a while to get that Canaday was Kennedy. We're so used to Kennedy only being Irish, that's why I got on the Ireland track for awhile. I got over that Irish bend after I went to my first Scottish festival and saw so many people there with faces similar to mine (never seemed to feel connected with the look of my Irish friends). There is a Scottish Kennedy tartan as well. Our Canaday line were coopers (or hoopers) and there is some reference from one of my line, Elijah, to the trees in North Carolina being suited for ship building. Although we stuck to barrel-making in North Carolina. Barrels held produce, which is why it was okay for us to marry the rich farmers' daughters. Big group of Canadays in North Carolina (not coincidently where a great many Scots migrated to). Our line along the coast, the "Crystal Coast."

Hey, we are related then!!! Elwyn, in the other post, gave me the link for the Ireland census and there are no Cannadays (or variants)...I'm not sure if Scotland has that variation. What I believe happened is that when they got over here, because of their accent, whomever wrote their name down wrote Canaday (or a variation) instead of Kennedy. The problem with that is that Kennedy's are in Ireland and Scotland so it doesn't really help much.

Chuck

Then you are in my line! Somewhere. I started researching back in 2000 (starting only with my father's, grandfather's and great grandfather's birthdates). Trial and error led me in and out of different lines but finally was able to have a clear picture of my Canadays from the colonies to modern times. One thing I discovered, in earlier days, my line kept repeating the male and female given names (Cornelius is a repeat in my direct line). That's pretty much how I was able to keep the lines accurate. I wasn't convinced we were Irish but thought we were Scottish/English (my father always said so). Last year at our local Scottish festival I found out that it is Scottish tradition to name your children just as I had found during my research! Eureka! Because I am a history buff, I thought that Canaday zero might have been part of the Ulster Irish, fleeing from Scotland, but I am finding no Canadays in Ireland either. So, back to the Scotland and to the England trail...

No. At a dead-end. William Canaday looks to be our original and the only other information I've been able to get is that he was born in England and came to the colonies from there. But I'm pretty confident that our Canadays didn't originate from England. Just a gut feeling.

I try every now and again to look for records on ancestry but they are limited in info for our line.

Are you a Canaday?

I am researching my gr gr grandmother, Isabelle Steele and she has two children named Guy Canaday and Walter Canaday born in Kansas City. They ended up moving to Oregon and got remarried to George Steele but I can't figure out who Guy and Walter's father is. Any of this ring a bell?
