Try searching for ocana and ocanas. I grew up with the surname O'Canas but find my grandfather and family are originally Ocana. You should have luck that way since there aren't so many.

My father was born in el Salvador in San Vicente. He was born in 1930 and he was 12 years old when hi father died. My fathers name Santos Canas... Let me knwo if that helps

Es muy probable, de hecho hay evidencia de persecución por diferentes revolucionarios de la epoca a diversas familias. en particular la nuestra (mexico) escapó de la persecución de Villa

My name is Jose' Cañas, I was born in Miami, FL, USA 1965. My father's name is Jose' Huberto Cañas, he was born in Huehuetenango, Guatemala 1935. He also has an older sister Maria Virginia Cañas (Giron) also born in Huehuetenango, Guatemala 1931. My Grandmother's name was Zenaida Alfonzo. I am doing research on my family history. I know that my great great great grandparents names were Refugio and Cesaria Canas. They had eight childern.

Josemaria Canas who married Mercedes (maiden name unknown) They nine children Mercedes Canas, Gregoria Canas, Pedro Canas, Lorenzo P. Canas, Juan P. Canas, Carlos Canas, Lusia Canas, Cecilia Canas, Senon Canas.

Mercedes Canas married Rosario Ruiz. They had nine children Beatriz, Josie, Annie, Connie, Mary Lou, Betty, Rose, Andrew, Raymond. Rosario Ruiz died in May 25, 1947 in San Joaquin. She then married Hilario Garcia. They had two kids Genova and Eddie.

Cresencia Canas married Pedro Chacon. They had 13 children Antonio Canas Chacon, Felipe Canas Chacon, Arcadio Canas Chacon, Juan Canas Chacon, Jesus Canas Chacon, Florita Chacon, Lorenza Chacon, Manuel Canas Chacon, Soledad Chacon, Petra Chacon, Timoteo Canas Chacon.

Jesus Canas married Josefa (maiden name unknown). They had four children that I know of. Prajedes Canas, Daniel Canas, Alejandro Canas, Sotico Canas.

Apolonio Canas married Feliciana (maiden name unknown). They had 3 children that I know of. Rosendo Canas, Francisca Canas, Perfecto Canas.

Demetrio Canas married Ysabel Torres. Not sure if they had any kids.

Encarnacion Canas married Juan Maciel. Not sure if they had any children.

Maria Canas married Timoteo Camacho. Not sure if they had any children.

Juan Canas not sure if he married or had any children.

Hello.

I have a Colonel Rosa Canas in my family tree. I understand he was from Spain. He fought and died in a war in Costa Rica fighting the over take of William Walker and the fillibusters.

Buenas tardes, aqui....disculpeme, si me Espanol es dificil de entender, hablo ingles, pero mis padres son de Mexico, mi mama nacio Canas, en creo que me dijo Chiuaua, o Santa Barbara cerca y cerca de El Paso, Texas....mi abuelito se llamaba Agustin Canas, y nacio en 1900 or 1906, no estoy segura, y dicen que su papa fue matado por Pancho Villa...
pero porque, no se..podria ser verdad.

Nuestra familia en chile proviene de la rioja, mi abuelo llego en 1900. hay otros cañas en chile pero llegaron en la colonia.

Marisa:nuestra familia cañas aquí en chile
comienza el año 1900 cuando llega el primero de 7 hnos de mansilla de la sierra,la rioja.
los otros cañas de chile son anteriores a1850
y no se mas de ellos.si es de utilidad te puedo dar mas info.Sabia de los cañas de costa rica y otros de centroamerica,que hay muchos militares.Aqui en chile tambien muchos han pertenecido a la familia militar.
