I am looking for any information on my GG Grandfather, Michael James Canavan. He was born in County Galway {probably in Tuam} c.1849. He had two know brothers, Edward J. and Patrick J. Canavan. James immigrated to the U.S. c.1870 and made his way out west to Denver, Colorado. He joined the Volunteer Fire Department and later moved to Leadville where he owned a large tailoring establishment. He married Mary Walsh {from Claremorris, County Mayo} and the finally arrived in Ouray, Colorado c.1889-90. My family has remained in this small town ever since. If anyone has any information relating to this side of the Canavans, I would love to hear from you. It is a strong possibility that there were more siblings of the Canavan family. Please let me know if you had any Canavan ancestors from Tuam, County Galway, Ireland.
Michael Canavan
