A. B. Canby

I'm looking for information about A.B.Canby. I have a photo taken Dec. 31st, 1863 in Paducah, Ky, signed "Respectfully, A. B. Cardy", but the Cardy has been altered and has tape over it. He is in a Union uniform with Corporal stripes. Because the photo has been in my families possession for at least 100 years I believe it is a proper ancestor of Cardy, but 'rd' and 'nb' could easily be confused. Also the unit designation is written on the back in the same handwriting as the signature, and is "Co. H, 122nd Ill. Vol. Infty". I have gotten a copy of the Muster Record from the Ill archives listing an A.B. Canby. Mustered in Macoupin Co. Ill. Do any of you have any records of an A.B. Canby probably born abt 1840?

Thanks, Carl P. Cardey
