Giorgio Quinciay Cansiani (aka George Cancienne) and his wife Marguerite Catherina Yeane were the parents of Pietro Cansiani. They lived in Venetia, a country which no longer exists. According to a web site operated by the Louisiana Governor's office (http://www400.sos.louisiana.gov/ARCHIVES/italian2001/italian...
- comments.htm), Venetian- born Pietro Cansiani arrived in Louisiana in 1786 among Canary Islanders who migrated in number to the Lousiana territory. He went to Donaldson, LA and changed his name to Pierre Cancienne. There is no indication that his parents came with him. (The web site says "1786 -- among the Canary Islanders who migrated in number to the Lousiana territory were several Italians including Venetian born Pietro Cansiani who went to Donaldson, LA. He changed his name to Cancienne.")
What is the source of your infornation that Pierre's parents came to America? I have that they both died
in 1755, five years after their marriage. Hence, they had only one child, Pierre. Pierre married Jeanne Marguerite Landry in Donaldson, LA on February 15, 1786. They had 12 children.
