I've been really interested lately in finding more info on Helen Churchill Hungerford Candee. I'm tracking her and THINK she's maybe my fifth cousin. She is listed on the Titanic's first class passenger list. She gave a locket engraved with her mother's (Mary) image to a Mr. Kent for safe keeping. She, however, survived and he did not but the locket was found on his body. I'm so interested in knowing more about her life. She wrote books and traveled a lot. The info I find shows she died in Maine in 1949 at age 90. There is a nice narrative about her (and a beautiful picture) in a book we picked up recently at our library, "Titanic, Women and Children First." Candee, of course, was her married name but I believe she had one or two sons. I mostly wonder whatever happened to her locked. If it was important enough to save during the Titanic tragedy, it may have been passed down through her sons. I'm just charmed by her life and would love to know more about her. Thanks for any response.
