My g-g-g'mother was Isabelle Candee Milne, who lived in Oneida County, NY after emigrating from Scotland as the story goes. She lived a long life and I have a photo of her with her grandchildren, one is my grandmother born in 1903. She married John Milne who was killed in a quarry accident near Oriskany Falls where they lived. Any connection?

I too am a Candee & whenever I sought out the family info it all came from "The Candee Genealogy" book. I looked into trying to buy a copy & then a Candee relative downloaded the book online for everyone to copy. This is the info on where you can download the entire book. A book on the
Candee Genealogy is available for download at www.GenealogyPages.org
(under Transcribed Documents, in the Books Online section). I took all the info from it & put it on my family tree on rootsweb. If you want to check that out it's #87297...all the Candee's I know of are there.

Mrs. Candee's only son died without children, I believe, and her daughter, Edith, married Mr. Mathews. The locket probably went on through that family.

Does anyone have any information regarding Mrs. Candee and her time or family in Maine?
Sharon I do not know where you can get The Candee Genealogy Book. This was passed on to me by my Grandfather. It was published in 1822 so I think it is out of print. Somewhere I picked up on an updated book out there. I do not know where John Condy came from England or Scotland. My family has always said we orginally came from France. If I find out anything I'll let you know. This is a very slow process and I've only been at it six months. Marilyn

I just realized I goofed on my e-mail with Gideon's father. My lineage goes back to Zaccheus as well...I lacked the information you provided on Gideon. I found that on one website, Zaccheus was called "Zachariah" on a gravestone??? Also, that his fahter was John Condy. I typed in John Condy and got a tremendous number of them from both England and Scotland. It would be fun to find out which one. Again, thank you for your help. I appreciate all the kind people helping a rookie like me. Sharono

Gideon Cande or Candee (spellings inconsistent)t

I am filling in holes in our family lineage and wondered if anyone has any complete information on this family? So far I know that Gideon was born in 1749 and died in 1819. Does anyone know anymore about him or his parents or grandparents and so on? I would appreciate any information. Thank you. Sharon

helen candee

I've been really interested lately in finding more info on Helen Churchill Hungerford Candee. I'm tracking her and THINK she's maybe my fifth cousin. She is listed on the Titanic's first class passenger list. She gave a locket engraved with her mother's (Mary) image to a Mr. Kent for safe keeping. She, however, survived and he did not but the locket was found on his body. I'm so interested in knowing more about her life. She wrote books and traveled a lot. The info I find shows she died in Maine in 1949 at age 90. There is a nice narrative about her (and a beautiful picture) in a book we picked up recently at our library, "Titanic, Women and Children First." Candee, of course, was her married name but I believe she had one or two sons. I mostly wonder whatever happened to her locked. If it was important enough to save during the Titanic tragedy, it may have been passed down through her sons. I'm just charmed by her life and would love to know more about her. Thanks for any response.

Would also like to copy some of grandmother's bible to send to you on J.E.
Email me at lazyt@mcn.net
