Hello! I am new at this.

My great grandfather is named above. He was born 17 July, 1864 in the Azores, and died in 1949 in San Francisco. His daughter, Gladys Hahn, will turn 100 next year (my Grandma!) He married Emma Rita Andrade in Half Moon Bay, CA. I am trying to find out where in the Azores he came from. Any one who can help?

Hi again. I never recieved anything from you. I have had illness in my family for over a year, and havent been able to find much or do very much. I am starting to look again. Again how are you related? Please reply back, and will be very glad to recieved anything you have. I'm looking into the Leite family too. Do you know how to speak and read portuguese? I have some letters,etc but they are in portuguese, cant read them. Send me your email and I will try and copy them and sent them to you.Hope to hear from you.

I had to find our the hard way, but it is not unusual for portuguese to switch their names around - my grandmother went by 5 or 6 last names depending on what paperwork you look at - that's what makes it so confusing. I've just gotten in the habit of looking under every name I run across. Good Luck, Barb

I think there name was Souza when they came to USA and changed it. My mother in law isn't helping me very much, and she is the only one that is alive.

Trying to found out about Candido family from Portugal. Was told by my grandmother that originally last name was Soza and somehow was changed to Candido. Came from Portugal to MA., USA. If you think you have some info please let me know. Thanks.
