Do you have any info on the Cannons in this exodus, or those who may have stayed in NC? (Names & dates?)

I'm not sure where in NC my Cannons come from. My ancestor is George W., born abt 1850 in NC. The first time I find him (for certain, that is) is in 1900, when he was in Indian Territory (OK). I've found several George Ws, or G.W.s, before then, but I can't be certain that's him. Not yet, anyway.

I'm trying to follow up on anything that might be his family.
