Have yoiu tried looking at the Canonaburg, PS websites? Canonsburg was built on land donated for the town by John Canon, He is supposed to habve moved there from VA prior to the Revolution and to have been close to George Washington.
there's not a lot about his descendants on their sites but they may lead you to soomething. My ancestor, John Canon, Sr. came from there, but he was supposedly born in Scotland in 1730. I suspect that he was the PA Canon's nephew since the Canonsburg Canon built a mill in the Canonsburg area abd he died there. If he had any children, I can't see them laing a known money maker like a mill behind to trk off to NC like my guy did.
As soon as I get the proof that i need to link me up with John Canon, Sr., I'm going to workout from the Canonsburg sites to see what I can turn up.
Good hunting.
