I have Cantelli family in new Orleans also. I have hit a dead end after Adolphe Cantelli Born 1841. I know that he collected a Civil War pensiion. But I am unable to find out who his father wasI would love to compare info.

The cantelli's in Lousiana came to this country it looks 20 years before the Cantelli's that resided up north, primarily Massachusetts. Someone told me once that Cantelli was a common name in Italy, do you know if this is true? I know my great-grandparents were from Lucca, Toscano "Tuscany", Italy. What area were your Cantelli's from?

My name is Gene Bremer I read your post from 2002 about the Cantelli family tree. I have the surname Cantelli in my family tree also. My grandfather was Elpidio Moronese who came from Curti, Italy in the Providence of Caserta, in the Region of Campania. His paternal grandparents were Michele Moronese and Maria Filomena Cantelli, also of Curti. Maria Filomena Cantelli was the daughter of Francesco Cantelli who was the son of Don Gabriele Cantelli. There were many Cantellis in Curti as both Don Gabriele and his son had brothers.
Do you know where in Italy your great grandfather came from? If you can tell me more about your family's history, perhaps we can see if there is a connection.

My Butlers are buried in Lafayette Cemetery # 1 in New Orleans. The tomb is 3/388, along with Kay's and Cantelli's. Augusta and Agnes Butler married William Freudenstein. They were daughters of George W. Butler and Mary Rice. George was one of three children of Joseph Butler and Christine Keyser, both from Germany(they are my 4th great-grandparents). Joseph purchased property on St. Andrew in 1825. My ancestor is their daughter, Fredericka, who married Peter Kern.

In your research, do you have any info on the Butlers or Freudensteins? I appreciate your response.

William Freudenstein married Wilhelmina Augusta Butler, daughter of George Washington Butler and Mary Rice, in New Orleans 9 Nov 1876. She died in 1885. William then married her sister, Agnes Josephine, 1 Jan 1891. My 4th great-grandfather was Joseph Butler, Germany, who owned property on St. Andrew in 1825. George W. Butler was one of his 2 sons. My ancester was a daughter, Fredericka, who married Peter Kern. The Butlers are buried in Lafayette Cemetery #1 in New Orleans.

In your family history, do you have any information about the Freudensteins or Butlers? I seem to be at a dead-end. A Freudenstein married a Cantelli and I thought there might be a relationship between the families.
