Hmmm...have you found any more information on this family? I'm wondering if this is *my* family, too.

My grandmother never knew her father, Benjamin Franklin Cantey. He took off before she was born in 1921, or shortly thereafter. Minnie Belle Metze is her mother (also don't have much info on that side of the family).

Benjamin had a brother named Tom...comsidering "Benjamin Franklin," I'm wondering if "Thomas Jefferson" is his brother.

I also know, from Benjamin's death certificate, that his mother's maiden name was Sherman, but that could be a misspelling or bad data entry.

Ben was born in South Carolina around 1879, died in California 1943. (He had re-married before 1930 to Lillie Oliva Traylor.)

I know he lived in North Dakota for several years. He was there in 1910, but I can't find him in the 1920 census, though I *can* find Minnie Belle and their kids.
