Capasso from Naples

Interesting. My grandfather, Saverio Capasso, arrived in U.S. in 1911 from Naples and settled in the Trenton, NJ area. Married Rose Chianese and had children, Ralph, Sossio, Domenick, Frances and Mary. Wonder if they could have been brothers or cousin?

Carl Capasso, 83, of Mt. Pleasant Township, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born May 8, 1927, in McKeesport, a son of the late Dominik and Anna Savinella Capasso. Carl had been a resident of Mt. Pleasant Township for the last 23 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a motor inspector for U.S. Steel at it's Homestead Works. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy and was a member of the American Legion. Carl was a member of St. Raymond of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church in Donegal. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances Nober Capasso; his children, Jane Dodson and husband, Ray, of Bethel Park, John Capasso, of Seattle, Wash., Joseph Capasso and wife, Debra, of Mechanicsburg, Geralyn Walker, of Mt. Pleasant, Thomas Capasso and wife, Patty, of Pittsburgh, and James Capasso, of Maryland; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Victoria "Vicky" Capasso, of Bridgeville. In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Capasso. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, 724-547-3800, where a blessing service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Raymond's Roman Catholic Church, Donegal, with the Rev. Anthony Ditto as celebrant. A committal service and interment will follow in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Saltlick Township. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Donegal VFW No. 6743 Honor Guard.

I am researching my father's side of the family. I cannot find anything past my great grand father.

My g. great grandfather was Donato (Dan) Antonelli. Born abt 1887-1888 in Itlay. He settled in Rhode Island. The 1930 cencus record states that he arrived about 1912 (cannot find this though). My father, believes he arrived in the port of Providence or Boston (1919). He was not married at the time and my father beleives he traveled with a cousin or uncle.

My father has told me he is from the Abruzzi section of Italy. Possibly lived in Naples. However, his WWII draft card states he is from San Ambroggia Italy. However, I can only find a San't Ambroggio Italy.

Anyways I would like to know if any of your Antonelli relatives (Concetta born 1875?) may have been Donato Antonelli's siblings or cousins. Or his parents . I have very limited information, I will begin to research outside of ancestory.com soon.

my father is the youngest of 3 brothers who came from melito irpino italy to south africa in the early 50 and married my mother errico also from melito irpino and settled in estcourt kwa zull natal.

I Dominick Capasso 22 new Britain Ct would like to try and put together my family tree. My Great grand father Dominick Was a butcher in Hartford in the 20's and so on. I knew he had brothers and sisters. i dont know if he was born here. i do know that his birth name was Dominico. Any help would be great.

my great grandmother was a Capasso until she married my great grandfather and became a Sanguedolce we do not know much about her family but would love to, her name was Anna Domenica Sanguedolce and she married Tommaso Sanguedolce and had 8 children. they came to America in the early 1950's

I AM LOOKING FOR DESCENDENTS OF ARCHANGELO, ANTONIO, AND ROCCO CAPASSO. THEY CAME TO THE US ABOOUT 190-1910 AND SETTLED IN NY. THE FAMILYLATER SETTLED IN STATEN ISLAND. THEY ORIGINALLY CAME FROM A SMALL TOWN OUTSIDE OF NAPLES-CRISPANO.

There is no relation as far as I cna see. My Capassos came from Crispina, just west of Naples. Tony's wife was named Antionette Volente.

I am looking for part of my father's family that came to the US in the 1940s. As far as I know, Felice and Giuditta Capasso moved from Scisciano Naples to Chicago, where they raised their family. I believe they had a son Armand. Any ideas? My father Ruggiero Capasso moved from Scisciano to Brooklyn, NY in or around 1948. Hoping to find his extended US family.

I am the daughter of Antonio Capasso and Santina Capasso(Nee DeRosa). Michelle Capasso was my Grandfather, son of a Capasso from New York. The village that they came from is Alife between Naples and Rome. I would love to hear from any one connected.

My Great great grandfather was Antonio Capasso Teresa was his wife . I believe they came from Messercola Italy outside of Naples. His children were Michele(my great grandfather)Domenico, Biagio and a daughter Antonia? .Antonia 's married name is Piccarillo.They are buried in St. Michael's Cemetary in Stratford , Ct.

This is the same person it seems.Michele is my great grandfather also. Michele his wife Anna and his parents Antonio and theresa Capasso are buried in St. Michael's cemetary on Stratford Ave in Stratford, Ct.

I'd like to know more about you and your family.

Hi Felicia,I am a Capasso, daughter of Domenico Capasso. My father and his parents, camme from a town outside of Naples,Italy. In my searching I found out that everyone seems to use the large cities as to where they came from BUT in reality came from surrounding towns.If you want more info I would be happy to e mail with you toniusa@webtv.netPS. I also found out Italian married women did not adopt or use their husbands names therefore your great gradmother would not have come to this country as Carmela Capasso.Good luck, toniusa@webtv.net

My grandfather Antonio (son of Raffaelle and Carmela Capasso) was born in 1926 and married Giovanna Vitale who was born in 1924 and died in 1975. Anyone with any information, please contact me. My great grandfather was Gennaro Mariano Luigi ANTONIELLO whose last name changed to ANTONELLI once in America. He arrived here in 1903ish with 3 of his 11 children, Guglielmo (William) Mario born in Naples 15 June 1898; Concetta (Mary) born 28 Dec 1890 in Naples; and Giovanni (John). Gennaro, or Jerry as he was known to his friends, married Anna Maria Rachele Esposito-Capasso CAPASSO born 27 Dec 1864 in Napoles, Italy. They were married 16May 1887 in Naples. He died in a fire in New York at his son's home on 24 July 1950.

GENNARO's father was Giovanni ANTONIELLO;mother was Angela SCARFOGLIERO.

ANNA' CAPASSO's father was Pasquale ESPORITO-CAPASSO CAPASSO / mother was Guiseppa VARDARO.

Sorry I don't have better information about your specific family but I'd like to add that my Granfather's (Capasso's) family is from the Naples area of Italy as well. The family is made up of Vincenzo and Agusta with 6 children, Lawrence, Daniel, Jerry, Camile, Florence and Edward.

I believe my grandfather, Jerry was the first of the children to be born in the United States. He was born in 1910. And is still alive today. So the family must have come into Ellis Island shortly before 1910.

I have aGrandfather name Domenico from New Jersey area and I think he passed away in 1956-60?? really not sure on the date? But What was his LAST name. I do no his wife was Maria but stayed back in Italy???
