Surnames: Giulia or Julia; Giulia Chili CAPELLA, Francesco CAPELLA.
Hi,

My name is Paco Capella. I know a little-bit about an Italian painter named Giulia Cheli Capella who was born circa 1874 probably in Florence, Firenze, Tuscany, Italy. Very little is known about this fine Artist.

Please find attached a self portrait she made. Actually, this "self-portrait" is a reproduction of Madame Elisabeth Louise Vigée-LeBrun's self-portrait, who was personal painter of Queen Marie Antoinette. My opinion is that she sees herself to be very much like M. Vigée-LeBrun. If so is true, then she was a very beautiful young women.

Most auctioneers set G.C. Capella (or J.C. Capella) birth year to 1875 and death to 1915. Incidentally, all of her work is dated 1915. For this reason I tend to believe that she probably die by 1919.

What is certain about Giulia is that she lived at 28 via Venti Settembre in Florence, Tuscany, Italy, as it can be deduced from her annotations on the back of her paintings where she accustomed to write her "studio address" which I presume was her residence too.

I'm no expert in painting except for painting my own home... but I have some high resolutions photos of a couple of paintings of Giulia Cheli Capella, and in my very humble and modest opinion, Giulia was a GREAT ARTIST... When I compare her paintings with probably her great grandpa, Francesco Capella, (b. Venezia-1711, d. Bergamo-1784)... her technique, quality, style, is REMARKABLE!!! Very similar in the choices of themes and motifs. Both liked religious and historical events or people. Both painted a self portrait (my believe) at the time of the PEAK of their careers. Some paintings of Francesco Capella have been auctioned for over $50K USD. Therefore, if you have an actual "physical" painting of Giulia C. Capella (July in English or Julia in Spanish/Portuguese), THEN you may posses a VERY valuable piece of ART in your hands.

Yes! I am interested in the painting!!! Not to buy it as I I don't think I could afford to pay for anything... but I would like to have a High Resolution photo of your painting sent to my email address. Just reply to this post and I'll give you my email address.

Very Sincerely Yours,
Paco Capella
