I'm helping a friend get started with her genealogy, and unfortunately, all she has is very vague information about her family. Her father was Peter Giuliano, whose father was Vito Giuliano.

First question: Is Vito a nickname? If so, what is the correct and formal name usually connected with Vito?

Vito married Marian (Americanized, I'm sure) Capella or Capello, possibly in Middletown or Haddam, Connecticut. Peter lived from 1908 to 1977, in Connecticut most of his life, although he was in Massachusetts briefly. Those dates may help to place Vito, as we have nothing else on him. Peter, when asked where his people originated in Italy, was known to say, "We are Napoletan/Calabrese".

Last question: Do any of these names, or does any of this information ring a bell in someone's research?
