Hello Joanne,
I am intrigued by your post. I am finding that "my" Capels people have some relationship with Canada, but I'm not entirely clear yet on circumstances. My grandfather, Lester Capels, for example, served in the Canadian Army in the early 1900s, during which time he met and married the Scottish immigrant who would become my grandmother.
I'm working on a Web page to try to sort this out:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~capels/capels/index...
I was doubly intrigued by your VermontMaiden e-mail address, because I am in Waitsfield, VT. There were/are Caples in Vermont, but I've not yet researched them for any possible connection.
