Max and Fannie Caplan, Russia to VA

Looking for information on Max and Fannie Caplan. They came to the US from Russia in 1891. They had a daughter, Edith, born in Russia, the rest were born in the US. The other children are Bessie, Henrietta, Bennie, David, Israel, Isadore, Jacob (my wife's G-Grandfather, and Pearl. We know from my father-in-law that Fannie's maiden name was Rabinowitz, or something close to this.

They lived in the Maryland/DC area, and at some point in NY, and later would settle in Richmond, VA. It seems that Max and Fannie are relatively common names for Russian Jews coming to the US at this time but I'm having trouble finding information on these specific two.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My mother's grandparents were Rebecca Chadrow and Benjamin(Bennie)Caplan. Any more info would be appreciated. I am wondering if she is the sister of

I am aware of a Fannie Caplan from Russia. She was born in approximatley 1887. Her father was Israel. I think she had a sister Dora Stein, a brother Samuel. and I think a brother Jacob L. In 1910 she resided at 2053 Federal St. in Philadelphia. I think she was my grandfathers aunt. I hoe this is helpful.

A friend found a framed family name history for the surname Caplan (also mentions how that name comes from the polish word Kaplan) at a yard sale last weekend and gave it to me because she know's I'm into genealogy. I don't have anyone with that surname in my family, so I would like to give it to someone who is researching that family name. All I ask is the postage (in advance) to get it to whomever wants it. I've returned several family bibles, baptism certificates, marriage certificates and photos to families so now I guess my friends are starting to pick stuff up for me when they see it too!

SERENDIPITY: There is a charming circa 1910 photo of the Jacob and Fagel (Rubinok) Caplan family taken in Schenectady, NY, on pg. 184 of the Mar-Apr 1989 issue of the "Genealogical Helper" magazine.

Jacob and Fagel Caplan came with daughter Jennie to America from Russia in 1897.

The children in the picture were born in Pennsylvania - Mary, Leon, Ruth, Esther and Sarah. (Their married daughter, Jennie, was not pictured). This is a handsome family, most individuals with pleasant smiles and father has a moustache and glasses.

Ruth (1900-1981), father Jacob (1863-1957), and mother Fagel (1868-1940) were buried in Schenectady, New York.

Mary, Leon and Sarah were still living as of early 1989.

The Costa Mesa, California submitter, Mr. R. Stecker, is Ruth's son. For more information please reference that issue.

Hopefully, this "snippet" will provide just the right clue to a researcher.

I am looking for information on Bernard William CAPLAN. I think he was an immigrant post 1901 into the United Kingdom from East Europe. His father's name is Louis Caplan. I believe he was Jewish, but married out of the faith in 1924 to Maggie Smith in London. Bernard William Caplan was also called Bill and William. Employed as a head waiter in London. Left his wife in early 1930's.

Would like to know of any siblings and more about parents.

Murray Caplan, 92, born and raised in Indianapolis, IN and lived there until moving to Albuquerque, NM last year to be with his family, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2003. Trying to locate descendants of Ray (CHALFIN) CAPLAN. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Bronx, NY. Parents were Joseph and Fannie Chalfin both from Russia. Ray later moved to Montreal, Canada and was married to Joseph Caplan.

Additional info about Beatrice M. (Smith) Caplan; b. Conway, NH 1905, d. Wallingsford, Ct 1982. I've been told by an aunt she had 2 children Freda and Edward. Any info would be appreciated.

trying to locate info on a Caplan who married an Adams, they had at least 2 children possibly twins Jasper and -- also possibly a Henry. Probably married in Texas in the 1870s,their son Jasper was born there in 1878, Any info would be helpful.

David CAPLAN

David CAPLAN was born 9/15/1878 in Sitka, AK. The courhouse burned down so there is no record. His father, don't know his first name, was killed in a saloon by Soapy Smith we think in Fairbanks or Juneau. Help??
David had a sister and brother. His sister's name was Della who married Nathaniel Rosenthal and his brother's name was Emanuel Caplan.

Born Illinois 15 Aug 1901, Died Chicago/Cook, Illinois Feb 1982. SS# listed in death index. She is my grmother. I think her father is James CAPLAN, according to christening record of my father. Possibly sister Anna and brother James Henry or Henry James-this info by word of mouth. Any help greatly appreciated!
