Hello!

I am related to Anthony as well. I know he married Rose Cicirello and I am a descendent of their son Louis (1884-1970) who married Jeanette Alani but I am just using a small piece of my family tree that is posted on my family's facebook group. Which I just now noticed was posted by a Stephanie, probably you, meaning I was not very helpful at all. I was going to try to get you in touch with the members of my family that are more involved in our genealogy but contacting yourself most likely wouldn't help. Sorry :(

Hello,

That would be awesome. My ancestors immigrated to New Orleans in the late 1800s, early 1900s. From what i hear, it was Crappa or Crapa, then changed to Capra upon arrival to the US.

If you are possibly related, could you message me? i'd love to see a line back to the 1600s for Crapa, etc....and know what shared ancestor we may have.

To be more clear, my ancestor, Antonino Crapa, born in 1857 in Corleone, Sicily married Rosa Cicirello, also born in Corleone Italy and they immigrated to the US after their kids were born.

Please contact me, i'd love to hear from you. You can reach me at lynne0616@sbcglobal.net or beatles78@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks,
Lynne

I also have the Capra/Crapa line back to the 1600s BUT I have several disconnects, meaning I have lines I did not follow. Several of the descendents came to New Orleans and surronding area, where I live. I have not "Played" with the genealogy for some time. I just went back and I have to see how to connect to you. My friend and I published a marriage list from Bisacquino and there are many Capra in that. I will get back to see if I have those names.

Hi!

Any way i can get my hands on a copy of this Capra line that dates back to the 1600s? I'm descended from a Capra (Crapa or Crappa) from Corleone, Sicily and would love to see if this fits into my family tree somehow.

Thanks so much!
Lynne

Hello!

I am very interested in this thread. Fascinating stuff and often wondered if somehow my family was related to him.

I am a descendant of the Capra/Crapa family from Corleone, Sicily Italy. My line goes as follows:

Leo Crapa, born before 1850 in Sicily (don't have any information on him.)

Antonino Crapa (1857-1945) born in Corleone, died in Chicago, IL married Rosa Cicirello, (1857-1939.)

Louis Capra (1884-1970) born in Corleone, died in Chicago, IL and married Jeanette Aiani (1889-1986).

Any information on a possible connection would be appreciated!

Thank you!
Stephanie

This gets a little confusing because my grandmother and grandfather were first cousins.
My Great - Grandmother on my Lombardo side is: Josephine Capra. My Great - Grandmother on my Romano side is: Maria Capra. They were sisters.
Anthony Antonino Capra 1857 - 1945 was married to Rosa Cicirello 1857 - 1939.
Their children were: Maria Capra 1880 - 1957 (My GGM), Leo (Leonardo) Capra 1882 - 1962, Louis Capra 1884 - 1970, Christopher (Cristoforo)Capra 1890 - 1974 and Josephine (Guiseppa)Capra (My Other GGM) 1896 - 1998.
One interesting fact if you didn't already know it, is that the family name is not really Capra. They changed it after they moved to the US. It is actually CRAPA or CRAPPA.
Please feel free to email me at: luannmayer@aol.com

I don't have any of Anthony's siblings in my tree.

Louis Capra is then my great grandfather, then Marie Capra is my grandmother.

Do you also have additional information on the Capra side before Anthony? If so, that would be great!!

Great to hear from you!
Stephanie

Hi Giulio,

I read your post and wonder if you could help in my search for family in SanPoloMatese. I am looking information for Domenico Barbato born around 1830s married to Antonia Raffaele. They had a son, Michele Barbato born 1857. He married Carolina Iammatteo (born 1875). Michele and Carolina came to the United States around 1901. They settled in New York City. They had a daughter Teresa (Tessie) Barbato that married Alfred Fiorella in New York City. I believe Alfred Fiorella's parents were Guiseppe Fiorella and Anna Maria Capra from SanPoloMatese as well. I am most interested in Domenico and Antonia Barbato and Carolina Iammatteo's family. If you know anything can you please let me know? Thanks!

Hi! My maiden name is Craparotta, my dad, Anthony, was born in NY 1924-parents were Diego Craparotta and Michela Miceli Craparotta from Sicily (mazzara?)and arrived to the US through Ellis Island in the early 1900's. I know my granddad (Diego) had a sister, Josephine? (I called her Aunt Josie)and she was married to Sebastiano(?), had a son also Sebastiano. They lived in Brooklyn. My dad's siblings (Angelo, Mary, Barney and Leonard) have lived in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Elmont. I visited Sicily back in 87 and stayed with family of my dad's in Calatafimi. Any relation to anyone out there? Trying to work on my family tree and both my parents and grandparents are deceased. Thanks!!

Irecntly found a death for my grandmother that listed her parents as Joeseph and Forence Degidios of San palo Matese. It is possible some of the spelling is incorrect. What a surprise.. My Grandmother was born 5/18/1876 but was raised by an aunt after her Mother died. She married John Esposito but did not come to the USA for three years after my Grandfather. She arrived with my aunt florence who was born 6/10/1898. Information is hard to come by and I am forced to beleive she as well as my Grandfather swam over. If you have across any info on Degidios I would apprecate any info.
CK

Irecntly found a death for my grandmother that listed her parents as Joeseph and Forence Degidios of San palo Matese. It is possible some of the spelling is incorrect. What a surprise.. My Grandmother was born 5/18/1876 but was raised by an aunt after her Mother died. She married John Esposito but did not come to the USA for three years after my Grandfather. She arrived with my aunt florence who was born 6/10/1898. Information is hard to come by and I am forced to beleive she as well as my Grandfather swam over. If you have across any info on Degidios I would apprecate any info.
CK

My grandparents are both from San Polo Matese. My grandfather is Rafael Capra and married Christina Santillo. My father was born in 1929 so his parents must have born in the early 1900's.

Hi Pietro,

My family came from San Polo Matese as well along the Capra and D'egidio family lines. I have my list of relatives, most of the immediately family came over around 1914 to Cleveland and then to Los Angeles in the late 50's/early 60's. My great grandfather was John Petro (short for Pietriocovo - could be wrong on the spelling), and my great grandmother is where the Capra line falls. I do know that John and two brothers married 3 Capra sisters... What part of LA are you now in?

Joe

I do have to say that the name "William" is not one used too much in Sicily, so It was probably changes at some point.
Frank Capra's parents were Salvatore Capra and Rosaria Nicolosi. Does that fit? Accordint to what I have, their children were: Benedetto ( named after the paternal grandfather) Antonino, Luigia, Ignazia, Anna, Giuseppe Antonino, and Francesco (Frank Capra).
Hi,
I am trying to put together pieces of my families history going on very little information. I am wondering if anyone has any relation or knows of anything about Capra's in Massachusetts (Possibly Quincy, Roxybury, Norfolk or Suffolk etc. where I know parts of my family have lived at one time or other- or anywhere else for that matter). I know my grandfather Henry (Enrico) Capra owned Darlings Bakery on Dudley Street in Roxybury years ago, although I have yet to find any record of it, aside from my Dad telling me stories. My Nana's name was Celeste or Celestina in Italian. I think she used both names.

Also, my great Grandparents were Angelina and Giovanni Busconi (sp?) who seem to have come to the US from Northern Italy... Possibly Piacenza. Thats all I really know about them.

Any information would be wonderful... Searching for this stuff can be draining when your not finding anything. Thanks for your help!

Giulio
I started a family search for the Pietroiacovo(a?) last fall as part of a trip to Italy this coming summer. My father is Norman Peters – who is the grandson of Nunzio (Nick) Pietroiacovo – who is the son of Pietro and Carolina Pietroiacovo of San Polo Matese. Pietro was born in 1861 in SP and emigrated to the US in Sept 1888. I believe he initially joined Giacomo Pietroiacovo in Cleveland OH (who may be his father) – but in 1892 Carolina (she may be an Iezza or Vizzi) and her mother Angeline and my great grand father Nunzio joined them and went to Cumberland, Barron County, WI – and they were there in 1900.

By 1910 they had moved to Cleveland, OH - where they stayed – and where my great grandfather met Carmela Masiello (Carrie) – and the rest is history..

Carolina and Pietro (or Peter) had 11 children – most surviving to adulthood.

I have much I could share with you, if you are interested..

If you have any information on the Pietroiacovo(a) family – it would be greatly appreciated – I am at a mystery point and have not be able to connect the dots between the following men/women – who I think are siblings of my GG grandfather Pietro…

- Michele Pietroiacovo – born 1862 in SPM

- Nicola – born 1860 est. in SPM

- Giovanni – born 1865

- Antonio 1868 or 1859

- Maria/Mary – 1872

- Joseph – he ended up in Denver

- Domenico

- Crecenzo- -1880

- Concetta

I know that many married D’Egidios, Capras..

My great grandparents Nick and Carrie Peters (they changed the name about 1920 to Pietro and then again to Peters) had five children – my grandfather Norman W. Peters Sr. died at the Battle of the Bulge on January 13, 1945 and my father Norman was his only child. Of those five children they had only three grandchildren – my dad, and my cousins Peter and Norman who are the children of Peter Peters – their oldest child.

My father turns 65 on Monday and the trip this summer to SPM and Ripalimosani (where is mother’s family is from) means quite a bit to him because he never really knew his father and wants to reconnect with whatever family he has.

Thanks for reading my babble…I am getting the planning underway and cannot wait!

Best regards

Pam Arms

Philadelphia, PA (via Cleveland)

Pam Peters Arms

I saw your posting on the Abruzzi Forum today. I started a family search for the Pietroiacovo (a) last fall as part of a trip to Italy this coming summer.
