Hello,
My mother's maiden name was Capron. I've tracked her family back to John Capron born Mar 1829 and is in the census records several times in Sterling, Cayuga, New York, United States.

I can't make the connection from John Capron in New York to the family in Rhode Island and Mass.

I'll keep looking.

There is a problem with the attempted murder story. Mary Capron's father was Nathan Capron. Her mother Sally Beers remarried Joseph Aumond in Prescott County in 1834 after Nathan's death. Sarah Capron is living with Joseph Aumond & Sally in 1851 census. Therefore Sarahs father was long gone before Sarah got married. Sally & Sarah are listed as Presbyterian but her new husband Joseph Aumond is Catholic. Could it be that it was Sally's father Peter Beer objected to Sarah's mothers marriage to a Catholic? Perhaps Sarah had a brother Nathan that objected? I believe that Sarah Capron was born in Quebec. Have you checked the Drouin records? Presbyterian records for Quebec towns close to Prescott County?

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a connection between Sarah and Mary. I would gladly share any information I have, but what I posted is all I have. I'd be extremely grateful for any information you'd be willing to share. Thank you so very much!

I may have another daughter of Nathan Capron. I have a Mary Capron who married Stephen Smith about 1843 & named one of her sons Nathan Capron Smith. They were living in Prescott Cty at the time. Let me know if you have any info, as I'm willing to share what I find out. I'll see if I can find any criminal proceedings against Nathan at the Ontario Archives if you're interested?

Mayflower lineage through Hannah Capron b. 1743

Hello, has anyone proved lineage back to John Howland of the Mayflower through the children of Charles Capron and Mary Scott through their daughter, Hannah Capron b. 1743 d. 1826? I have been told that Mayflower passenger John Howland through the 5th generation, Charles Capron m. Mary Scott, is well documented through this couple's son Philip Capron. I hope to prove the following descendants(6): Hannah Capron 1743- 1826 m. Adams White 1745-1832, their daughter, (7) Martha White 1774 - 1815 m. Noel White 1769-1833, their daughter (8) Phila Knight m. Almon Curtis 1792-1861,their daughter, (9) Phila Curtis 1844-1927. Any help is much appreciated. The lineage of Hannah Capron is mentioned in Capron Family book: Descendants of Banfield Capron, 1683-1752 by Frederic Augustus Holden , 1959. Thanks! Gayle

I totally remember grandma Helen. I loved her very much, and she loved me. I am writing to you because I would like to speak to Johnny. I have thought of him often throughout the years and missed him. I am Lucy's biological sister. We have connected, and I have seen my beautiful niece and nephews. I would love for you to give Johnny my email address. I also loved your mom and Dad they were good to me. I was sorry to hear your grandfather died...he was the greatest and his sense of humor was Awesome!!! As you know life is funny with it's twists and turns, and I did not remain with your parents. I have had a great life...no regrets. I would just love to connect with johnny... your brother and my foster brother. I would appreciate it it if you could relay the message. I send my love and lots of good wishes for an awesome life!!! Good luck with your new little bundle of love on the way. I didn't know how else to get a hold of you. I hope this work's?
Kind Regards,
Jessica

MIS-INFORMATION ABOUT BANFIELD CAPRON

I have looked at several dozen trees on Ancestry and am dismayed by the amount of incorrect information regarding
Banfield Capron. I have been researching the Capron family and the descendents of Banfield Capron for nearly
forty years and am reasonably sure of the following information.

Banfield Capron was born about 1660 in England.
He was NOT born in Attleboro, MA.
He was NOT born in Wales.
He was PROBABLY not born in Cheshire, England.
He was probably born in Devonshire, England.

Banfield Capron died in 1752 at about age 92 NOT in 1758.

The parents of Banfield Capron b. 1660 are UNKNOWN.
His mother is CERTAINLY NOT Elizabeth Blackington.

Banfield Capron was married 3 times.

First to Elizabeth Callender who was born in England NOT MA.
Second to Elizabeth Blackington in c1733
Third to Sarah Norton probably a widow in c1735

Banfield and Elizabeth Callender were married for about 50 years and she was the mother of ALL of Banfield's children.

Elizabeth Callender's father was John Callender. I have never seen any reference to her mother's name.

Some of the mis-information is understandable. He married 2 women named Elizabeth. And he had a son Banfield who
out lived his father by only a few years.

If Banfield Capron is your ancestor and you have proof that any of the above information is incorrect I would very
much like to hear from you. You can contact me at desilva@comcast.net.

If Banfield Capron is your ancestor and you have incorrect information posted please correct it so this mis-information does not get spread across the net any more than it already is.

Please visit my web site at Connecting Capron Cousins http://home.comcast.net/~desilva/index.htm

Thank you,

Phil DeSilva

Re: Caprons in Washington State

Regarding NY Lincolns, Cornelia married to David S. Capron:
Cornelia Lincoln Capron - This may be her. Looking at the New York map, she was living in Sullivan, just 26mi from New Hartford. She was born about 1822, which would make her 30 in 1852 marriage. She was living with a Leonard Lincoln and what could possibly be siblings but not parents in the 1850 census. She named one of her twins, first children, Leonard, which could be a family name (Lansing coming from the Capron side). There is never another mention of her in future census'which could be accounted for by death in 1858. Following both Leonard Lincoln's family and David S. Capron, Cornelia seems to vanish. Does anyone have any information regarding Cornelia's apparent siblings: all Lincoln, Leonard, Hellen, William - or nephews Howard or Fred (Freddie)? Also, looking for family photos. I have a photo of Leonard, Lansing, Frank and David S. Capron and their respetive wives (Mary Elizabeth - David's 3rd wife). Leonard was young, early 20's I guess.

I think it is possible his father is John Milton and grandfather Seth Capron. That 1880 census is different than the other census's interm of information. Perhaps you have already found out much more in the past few years. I have ordered his death certificate so I will be learning more.

I feel that it is important for other researchers to know of a situation regarding privacy issues and Capron research I have encountered.

I have recently contacted Phil DeSilva (also a poster here) regarding some research that I provided to him that he has posted on his Capron Cousins site. He never asked if it was ok to post this infomration on his site and there is no credit given to my primary research on his site. I have recently asked him to remove some specific sensitive personal information on my family that was provided and he has refused! This information is not available to the public (except on his site) and puts my living family members at risk for unwanted and unsolicited obnoxious comments as well as gives people additional information that could lead to identity theft (ie: previous addresses, social security number issue dates/places, associations and affiliations and detailed medical issues). This information was NEVER meant to be posted for the world to see and my trust with Mr. DeSilva has been broken.

I have been researching genealogy for many years and have never run into another researcher who refused to delete information upon request, especially given the concrete reasons I have stated. The line that Mr. DeSilva refuses to delete is an off shoot of a Capron line and to my knowledge; my family is the only descendants of this line. In theory this information should not be helpful to other researchers but it is still out there for someone to view.

I would advise others not to share information unless you are ok with it being on the front page of the newspaper for the world to see. It is a sad to see the wonderful benefits of the internet turn into a criminal's playground. I know most researchers are sensitive to privacy and respect each other but a few bad apples can really ruin a good thing.

I just wanted to alert others to the situation and discourage them from sharing information with him as I believe he is unreasonable and insensitive to my privacy request. I sure if the roles were reversed he would be as angry as I am!

If anyone has further suggestions on how to deal with this I am happy to hear them :) I am looking into the details of HIPPA and other privacy laws to see what other recourse I may have.
Sarah Capron d/o Nathan Capron

My husband's G-g-grandmother was Sarah CAPRON and according her marriage record (m. Amable FOUBERT in 1856, Clarence Creek, Ontario, Canada) her father was Nathan CAPRON and her mother was Sarah BEARS. I can find nothing further on the CAPRON line. I don't know where Nathan came from, where or when he may have died. All I know is that he was Presbyterian and tried, unsuccessfully, to murder Sarah and Amable on their wedding day because Sarah had married a Catholic. Does this family sound familiar to anyone?

WOW its great to meet more family members, do you know anything interesting that maybe new about the family, my father, John Dzurenka Jr, says that his mom, Helen (Capron)Dzurenka, didn't talk much about her parents or the family. I'm interesting in the littlest thing about the family.
Thanks
Liz
