I saw your message,I've been looking up the Carabajals on my fathers side. I found my G.G grandfathers marriage in Mesilla,N.M.1859; Cruz Carabajal/Margarita Gonsales. It shows his parents as Jose Carabajal/Ylaria Ortiz. Cruz and Margarita moved north to Paraje,N.M. Their son Pablo was my Great Grandfather. other children were Concepcion,(Isabel)?
Polito. Not sure if there is a connection, I've hit a dead end with Jose and Ylaria (Hilaria)

My Carabajal family has been in the same area since 1800.

Hope to hear from you.
I am from the Epitacio Carabajal side. His father is Procobio/Corpio and mother is Pridad/Piedad Saenz. I am related through them by way of my Grandmother Inez Carabajal and she was married to Esmerejildo Trevino..they lived in Berclair.
I'm looking for information on a great great grandmother Hilario Carabajal- she had a son (my great grandfather) out of wedlock with a man she never married. My great grandmother divorced him and just told us that he was "indian"- when asked "what kind" she said "a drunk one"- I have his birth certificate with Hilario's name on it. My mother's side is native american but this mystery woman, Hilario is from my dad's side. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. The birth certificate indicates Grant County Silver City New Mexico and the child was named after the father Espiridion Carabajal Molina- his death certificate has no reference to the carabajal name. thanks

So sorry, but we don't have any information that connects us to your information. The truth is, we don't have more information than what I originally posted. Margarita Matilda Carbajal was born to Felipe Carbajal and Matilda Chavez on April 10, 1911 in Bueyeros/Miera region of New Mexico Territory. That's all we can find. Her baptismal certificate was burned in the San Antonito church in northern NM. We'd appreciate any new information.

Hello Katherina,

I believe I replied to another email earlier.

Yes, we are related. I have found documentation (not hearsay or stories) going back to 1800.

Ernest Carabajal, your uncle is the person that says he reserached back to Spain, but I have spoken to him and still I am unable to confirm if so. He said next time I plan to visit, to call him a wk before and he will take all info out of storage for us to review and discuss.

The Carabajal family appears to have migrated from Mexico to Goliad/Berclair based on records (death, birth, census, Catholic Diocese). I have many of these records having visited so many courthouses. It is a lot of work, but so rewarding and fun.

Please emaime using my persona email

rene.t.lopez@sbcglobal.net.

I can then give you my phone #

Hello Rene,

I think we might be related as well (not hard to do with such a large family). My whole family is from Berclair/Beeville/Goliad area. I live overseas right now but have been trying to get our history for sometime from my relatives. My grandfather (Prajares Carabajal) had researched all the family history back to Spain. No one knows where this is? He died in 2000. He is as far back as I have gone. I have researched a little on the internet but can't verify it with anyone, so it is very difficult. My Grandmother, Francisca Ponces Carabajal is also deceased. Your information is very helpful. WE have a relative in Austin. Prajares’ (spelling from the obit) son, Fernando Carabajal and his wife Rita live in Austin.

I am curious as to how we have any history in Austin, Texas. Did it start there and move south? How far back are we Texans? Was Procobio Carabajal & Pridad Saenz born in Texas or did they come over from Spain?

Please let me know if you have any information on my questions.

Thank you for posting this information.

Katherine Carabajal Garcia (also from Beeville) Vaughn

My Parents:
Father: Guadalupe Molina Garcia
Mother: Celia Carabajal Garcia (one of the 18 ~ 3 died at birth/or shortly after)
From what I have found the "velho" started in Portugal. Curvelo in Brazil and Curvello and Curvelho in Hawaii.

I have traced my lineage from Curvelo in Aragon Spain to the Azores Islands. There the Curvelo went to the Canary Islands and became Curbelo. When they came to San Antonio some stayed Curbelo some became Corbello. When they came to Louisiana Some stayed Corbello some became Courvelle.

Have you been to the Carvajal Genealogy Project?
Have you seen any of my post on the Carvajal/Carbajal project?

http://www.rogerlouismartinez.com/gen/carvajal_genetics.html

Please dig through the site and let me or Roger know if we can help you with any information.

Best regards,
Matthew Corbello
Perhaps this will be no help. I was in third grade with a kid named Damian Carabajal in Poway, California in 1979-80.

That's funny that he's your nephew. I still remember when that car ran over him, or should I say landed on top of him. Boy were his eyes red for quite some time. Well, I hope that he's doing well. He probably doesn't remember me but give him my regards anyway. Cheers!

I went to school with a guy named Damian Carabajal. We were in the same 3rd grade class at Midland Elementary school in Poway, California in 1979-80. When we were kids, Damian got pushed into the street and a car screeched to a halt, landing its front wheel on Damian's chest. He survived although I remember that the whites of his eyes were extreemly red for quite some time. I have been out of Poway for a long time, but I thought I'd drop this line to let you know. You may not even be related.
