Classification: Immigration
Surnames: Sanchez-Caraballo
The Caraballos(Carballos) are "Corsos"(from Corsica)and settled in the Mountains of Puerto Rico; Yauco,Lares"Grito de Lares", (Pedro Caraballo)Guanica,Adjuntas. They came in the 1800's and since then have been spreading thru the island. There is still a few families left in the South of the island. They are mixed with the Dastas, Orengos, Lugos, Mendez, Rodriguez clans. I am also researching because my grandmother on father side (Sanchez-Caraballo) left for San Juan in the early 1900's and never mentioned her relatives in Yauco. I want to know what happened there, besides "El Grito de Lares". If you subscribe to Ancestry you can see all the Census names where people lived and with whom in those years, just by pointing the mouse over. I have been learning a lot and will visit soon.
