Thank you for your response. I guess there was a mistake on Dominico's passport because it states that he went back to Italy for a visit with a daughter named filippa. Did you meet Antonia's relations? I have passed all the info you gave me to my husbands family...some live in New Jersey as many of my family live..., Penn, Westchester, NY, where I live with my husband, Frank. My father in law, Anthony was an only child..how I wish he was alive today to see what a large family he had. Maybe, someday we can all get together. Also, it was interesting what you said about Dominino's first wife being the sister of Santa. They did that alot in those days to keep the family together...when someone passes. Do you know if Andrea Caracciolo was married to someone before Rosa cimato in Italy?
anyway, stay well and best regards..keep in touch. Regina

RC
Santa came here with dominico son Philip from his first marriage thru ellis, not a daughter. His daughter Antonia from first marriage came with friends through castle garden not ellis island. He had 6 other children with Santa in Bklyn,NY. Santa is said to the first wife's Sister. I am not full member on ancestry. My tree is under Michael D. Cimato. Thru facebook I have found Antonia's decendants. I will sent pics of Dom children soon. MCP

Dominico came to this country in 1887 via ellis island. He made a trip back to Italy with his wife santa and daughter, filippa in 1901. I have his passport record. Maybe Santa passed on and he remaried in the US. Don't know realy. You can check for her death record on ancestry. I live in Westchester, NY..if, you want to send me those pictures let me know.
Thank you for that wonderful information. I am just really getting started with my research and have little to start with. My Dad is Dominico Cimato grandson. And his dad Santo Cimato died young when he so a boy. I will see if there are any pictures of him. I do have pictures of Dom 8 children.
I have been told Santa was his second wife. Do you know this story? I know from Santo baptiusm cert at the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Brooklyn NY his god parents where Guiseppe Caracciolo and Maria Caruso. Did Andrea Caracciolo have another brother? I have many questions and stories. Hope to here from you again. Maria Cimato Picolo

Hello Maria
Just want to give you some more info about the relationship between Dominico Cimato and my husbands grandmother, Maria Cimato Cuomo. I have Maria's birth record from Italy...I sent away for it and I also have her marriage record in the USA to Francisco Cuomo, my husbands grandfather. On the Marriage record it states who Maria's parents were..their names were; Francisco Cimato and Reseanna Cappola. Their names are also on Maria's birth record ....so, since Dominico, Maria and Rose are siblings they are their parents also. When they first came to America they all lived on Union St. in Bklyn, NY. In fact, my husbands grandfather (Maria's husband) died in 1915 and is buried in Holy Cross cemetery in BKLYN, NY. He had a terrible accident as a longshoreman when my father in law was only 5. That's when I think Maria and my father in law moved in with Rose and Andrea...I found them on the 1920 census living together in Bklyn. I guess Maria couldn't go back to Italy because WWl was going on at the time...but, they did finally go back and soon after... my father in law came back to America. Andrea Caracciolo had a brother Vincent..in fact, my husbands middle name is Andrew and his brother's middle name is Vincent. My father in law must have been very fond of them.
We don't have any pictures of these family members..Maria, Andrea, Vincent, Rosa or Dominico. If, you have any and would like to share them with me I would be willing to cover any expense in making them up and sending them to me. I thank you in advance for responding to this post and hope to hear from you soon. My very best regards, Regina Cuomo

Did the parents ever come to the USA?
I am new to family research, but looking forward to hear from you. Maria
What

My husbands grandmother, Maria Cimato and her sister, rosa came from Gallico, reggio,Calabria and came to the US around 1898. They lived in bklyn. Rosa was married to Andrea Caracciolo. He had a brother named Vincent. My husbands grandmother, maria lost her husband, Francisco
cuomo in 1915 and with the war going on in Europe decided to move in with Rosa and andrea with my father in law, antonio. There also may have been another sibling of Maria and Rosa named dominico. If any of this is familiar to you please contact me through roots web. best regards, RC

Good Afternoon.
I think we may be related. My family tells a story of our family way back by the name of Caracciolo that owned a winery. The parents died and the three brothers inherited the assets. My Great, Great Grandfather was the younger of the three brothers and for some reason was upset at the other two and left to go to Sicily where he took the Name Di Napoli (from Naples)as that's where he came from, not wanting to reveal his real name.

My Aunt in Tilly (Italia)
I'm on facebook as Brian De Napoli.

Yes, If you research the Caracciolo name on roots web (surname lists) you will see that in the 15, 16 and 17th century they were counts, countess's with that last name and later on in doing more research I found out that they had many businesses and land holdings all over Italy. I don't understand why Andrea was listed as being Maria Cimato (my husband's grandmother) husband on her record from Italy when that he was listed to being married to her sister, Rosa in America on the 1920 census...because Maria was married to Francesco Cuomo in 1907 in America. Francesco was my husbands grandfather. Unless they made a mistake on the record in Italy...posted maria's name instead of Rosa's. Hopefully, I will find out. I live in Westchester N.Y. Thanks, for answering my post. I will keep you posted. Regina Cuomo

Hi Regina,

They are probably related as Gallico is a rather small town. My husband's family came back and forth between Italy and Manhattan/Brooklyn at the turn of the century--I suspect they had some money to be able to do that. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

Thanks for replying!

Linda Rosenberg, Brooklyn

Hi, Don't know if this helps you but, my husbands grandmother's sister, Rosa(Cimato) was married to an Andrea Caracciolo from Gallico, Reggio Calabria. Rosa, Andrea, Maria(my husbands grandmother) and her son Antonio ( my husbands father) were living together in 1920 in Brooklyn, ny (as per the 1920 census). My husbands grandfather died in 1915. Also, I have sent away for Maria Cimato birth record..I received it a month ago..it mentions that Maria was married to Andrea in Italy..don't know what to think about that..he was married to her sister, Rosa in america.Feel free to contact me through roots web. Good luck, Regina

Vivolo Caracciolo son of Bernardo Caracciolo di Napoli, c.1320

I am looking for anyone who might have one of the abovetwo people in thier family tree. Bernardo had at least two sons Vivolo Caracciolo(aka Lisolo) and Andrea Caracciolo. Andrea was married to Cizzolo Brancaccio. Andrea and Cizzolo were both dead by 1344. There was a dispute between the family of Cizzolo Brancaccio (her sister Banella Brancaccio)and the Caracciolo family for the return of Cizzolo's dowery. The arbiter was the Monistary of Santa Patrizia.

I believe there maybe a connection to the family Caraccioli-Pisquizi but this is just a hunch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
John Caraccioli

Their mothers name was Josephine Cavalier, she was married to Frank's father who died in Italy and then she married my great grandfather Luigi Mataure and had two more children Guiseppi and Mary. I know she died giving childbirth to Mary. I am not sure if she died here or in Italy. I also know that my great granfather couldn't take care of the two sons so they grew up in an orphanage. So he's not directly related to yours.

I will search my files later in this month to see if I have something more to help you. I believe someone on this (Caracciolo) board had a Francesco and Teresa in her history. As I recall, her Caracciolo ancestor moved to Brazil, I believe, or another South American country in the 1890s or early 1900s.

If you care to post your email address as a response I'll email you directly.
I noticed the surname of "Alberich", which is my maiden name.
Do you have info on the Alberichs? Antoinnett Bringas was my Grandmother and Joseph vincent Alberich was my Grandfather.
They immigrated to New York from Spain.

Any help would be appreciated.

Snoodles
rojan@tds.net

Hello Matt
Was your mother's maiden name Achuff and did she live in Childs, PA, born about 1905? We are tracing her genealogy back. Any other relatives with this name you know of? Get in touch.
Doug

My grandfather Vincenzo Caracciolo lived in Bklyn right near Our Lady of Mount Carmel, I believe Nunzio mentioned was his brother. My father was also named Nunzio, after his Uncle. The name Rose Della Valle is very familiar, believe she was my fathers cousin.
