If you go on Facebook, there is a group called"We Are Carattini". There you will find tons of genealogy and tons of Carattini's. Others will help you too. :). My mom was born in Aibonito in 1944. Hi to ALL Carattini's:
I am building a family tree that relates to the Carattini's for Aibonito, Puerto Rico. My mother was born in Aibonito and she was the daughter of Geraldo Carattini and Georgina. She had 3 siblings, Maria Georgina Carattini, Fransisco Frolix Carattini and Iris Carattini. She has told me that ALL Carattini's are related. A little more info from this side:
Joseph Albert (Jose Alberto) married Evelyn Pares (b 2 Oct 1923 in NY) She was about 15/16 when married because Joseph Albert Jr was born when she was 16. They were not married long and had no other children together. We do not know that much about him as he wasn't "spoken of". He did re-marry & I believe Gabriella is her name. They had 2 daughters, Nilda & Gladys.

Joseph Albert Jr married Haydee Marks and they had 4 kids, Stephen and 3 girls.

I have just started (about 2 weeks now) the genealogy for all sides of the family and I must say, I am really enjoying the discoveries! Thanks again for sending the information. Tell Amanda that we send our hello's.

I am still wondering how Aracelis connects with the original Carattini brothers from Corsica.

If you follow the thread and look for 'carattini's unending story' (morera carattini 2004) it lists the names of Roque Sr.'s children. One is missing though: Josefa Carattini Y Martinez

No, they are not the same person. Roque Carattini Jr. and Felix Carattini were siblings (bothe sons of Roque Carattini). The two brothers that came from Corsica and stayed in Puerto Rico, as I have learned, were Francisco Carattini and Roque Carattini. I have also heard that the third brother which I don't know his name continued his travel to Saint Dominique (Dominican Republic now) which it was French territory. Felix Carattini committed suicide. My aunt, which still alive, she was seven years old and playing across the street from where he took his life, still remember hearing the gun shot and the people running.

My name is Carlos Lopez. My father was Carlos Enrique Lopez Caratini. I know that I have another uncle by the name of Jose Alberto Lopez Caratini. i do not know much about my family and i am in search of my past. I want to say that my grandmother was Ana or Dolores but again I am not sure. I know that she was married at one point to my grandfather Josue Maria Lopez Diaz. I have other family in the Tampa area with the same name.

My great-grandmother was Francisca Carattini-Suarez from Aibonito PR, she came to the NY in 1928 with her 4 children, including my grandmother Angela. They lived in the Bronx till the 1950's when they move to NJ. I believe Francisca had a cousin named Aracelis who also lived in NY, based on what I've heard from family members. Does anyone in your family know of any names of Aracelis' relatives to verify if this is the same person?

I'm looking for any information on a Monserrate born in 1885 or 1886 in Aibonito PR and a Monserrate born on 16 October 1881 in Aibonito. I am specifically looking for the parents of both. I tried going through the Aibonito PR. Birth records but I don't know enough spanish to translate. Can anyone tell me where the name is on the birth record back in the 1800's in American English language?

I know I fit in there somewhere under Felix Colon. I'm told his whole name was Francisco Felix. I'm trying to still make the connection as to where I fit in. My grandparents are Alberta Rios June 1924 and Rafael Carattini (1917-2009). Rafael's parents were Francisco Gonzalez and Monserrate Carattini.

I need more information on my family history and getting nowhere:

This is what I have:
My grandparents are Rafael and Alberta Carattini
Rafael and Alberta had 14 children (one died of Lukemia named Ruben)
Rafael's parents were Francisco Gonzales and Monserrate Carattini
I was told he took on his mother's last name because they were not married
Francisco's dad was Aurelio Gonzalez
Monserrate's dad was Ipolito Carattini

Alberta's parents were Eugenio Rios and Epifania Madera
Eugenio Rios' mom I believe was Juana Ortiz
Ephifania's parents were Albina and Jose Ramon Madera

Thank you very much. Does anyone know if Valerio and Antonia had any other sons. So far I have heard they had, Cesar (who went to Switzerland), another brother wo went ST Dominque (Dominican Republic now), Francisco who went to PR with his brother Roque Sr.

Does anyone know the names of Roque Sr's and JR's children? Lastly, does anyone know who Roque JR's first wife was?

Cant wait to hear from you again. Maybe after 15 yrs I can finally put together the pieces of my family tree. :0)

I noticed the name of Felix Colon and Roque Carattini alot. Are they the same person? If not, can someone explain. If so, is it Roque Sr or JR. Also if anyone has the names of the three brothers, I'd appreciate it. I know one stayed in Europe and then went to Switzerland. The other two went to Puerto Rico. From what I've been able to piece together, Aracelis's (1893-1984) mother was Francisca Cartagena-Suarez.

Aracelis had 5 children: Jorge (George), Jose Alberto (Joseph Albert), Violeta, Angel, and Aida.

George was a chef at the Waldorf-Astoria for a time, then opened his own restaurant. He married Antonia Gallo in the late 40s, and their son George was born in 1950. I'm not sure when, but I know they divorced, as Antonia was also married to Phil Comulada.

Here's what I've found on the ancestry of Aracelis:

Her mother was Francisca Cartgena y Suarez.
Her father is an unknown Carattini y Suarez. Why no one has discovered his given name, I have no idea. I suspect he is also a Jorge.

Another research, Kay Carattini-Brown, shows his parents as Jose Manuel Carattini y Lara, son of Jose Maria Carattini and Maria Celedonia Lara y Morales. Jose Maria was the son of Guillermo Carattini b. abt 1800 in Canari, Corsica. I haven't been able to get farther back than him and his wife Jacoba O Polonia Caratini. They immigrated together to PR, and as far as I can tell, this line of the family has always been in Aibonito.

Amanda will be tickled with more cousins :)

From what I've been able to piece together, Areceli(s) had at least 5 children:
Jorge (George A), b. 1 Oct 1913
Jose Alberto, b. abt 1917
Violeta, b. abt 1921
Angel, b. abt 1921
Aida, b. abt 1923

George married Antonia Gallo in NYC, and had George Jr.
George Jr married Jonnie Kuerzi, and had three kids. Their daughter Amanda is my sister-in-law. So, Amanda and Stephen would be 2nd cousins :)

George immigrated to the US in 1941 and worked as a merchant marine for most of the 40s. He settled in NYC after that; he was a chef at the Waldorf Astoria for some time, then he opened his own restaurant.

Aracelis and the rest of the children followed some time after that. She died in NJ:

My grandmother's name is Teresa Carattini. She was the daughter of Antonio Sabas Carattini from Salinas. She married Arturo Amy from Coamo, Puerto Rico and lived in Aibonito.

I just read the posts on the Carattini family...and as a distant decendant it was like hearing my father telling me about the family. I'm pretty sure we're all related. My father was born in Salinas (Coamo) as well. His father was also known as "El corso"...and they had a business and he ran huge farm lands out there.

I believe Jorge is the son of Araceli Caratini, whose mother was Francisca Cartagena y Suarez (1910 census, Plata, Aibonito, PR). Francisca is a widow in 1910, the earliest census of PR, so I can't tell who Araceli's father was. Also, Araceli never seems to get married, yet she has at least 5 children:

I'm working on my sis-in-law's family - they have two Ts ;)
but, George A Carattini, their grandfather, appears to have come from Puerto Rico. He was a merchant marine in the 40s, sailing around the world several times. His ethnicity is listed variously as Puerto Rican, West Indian, Spanish, or American. He settled in NY after he stopped his sailing adventures. He was born 1 Oct 1913, and died in Brroklyn in May 1983. Unfortunately, I've lost some research I did earlier in the year, so I'm at a loss right now for his wife's name.

Oh! I just changed the spelling of his name in the Ancestry search to Jorge Caratini and found his arrival!!

This is the first thread that I have found that mentioned the last name Felicci. My great-grandmother's name was Marcelina Felicci. I have no idea when she was born or when she died. Her family was from Corsica. I would really love to get more information, if it is at all possible. She married my great grandfather whose name was Diego Ibarra. Hi!I'm destiny rae Carattini. I'm just 12... I was just thinking "How many of us are there?" My dad, Carlos Carattini, was telling me that we are a huge family. I have a imaginary bucket list.. I was talking to my uncle, PJ Carattini, and he said that some people are told that they only have a month to live. They want to bunjee jump or something dumb like that. He said instead of spending the last month of your life doing silly stuff, you should spend it with your family, the people who love you. So YOU must be like " What is this girl's point?" My point is that. I have cousins, uncles, and aunts out there that I dont even know! I'd really LOVE to meet a relative that I dont know.
