Well my post is 5 years after this thread but I've just joined this site. I'm entering my branch of the Carbert Family Tree from information in the book that was published in 1972 by American relatives. My father was Thomas Carbert Thompson III. My branch in the book goes back to Joseph Carbert who was born in 1791 and was married to Lucy Jefferson.

My grandfather was Arthur Carbert, born 1870 in Bishopthorpe, Yorkshire, to Thomas Carbert and Mary Buckle. I have always been told that Arthur had a great singing voice and participated in a family band back in England. He was a staunch Presbyterian. He emigrated to America via Canada in 1890 and became a prosperous farmer in Minnesota, married Stella Bruner, and they had eight children. I am the youngest of their youngest child.

I am the grand-daughter of Arthur Carbert, son of Thomas Carbert and Mary Buckle. Arthur was born 1870, Bishopthorpe, Yorkshire. I had always heard Thomas had several wives and many children. My grandfather must have been in the younger group. I am the youngest child of Arthur's youngest child.

Thomas Carbert & Elizabeth Barron were my Great Grandparents - Thomas eventually settled in Mexborough, near Rotherham, I thikn after Elizabeth died. He was a policeman for a time before getting sacked for drinking on duty, I think he also worked in the mines as well.

I would be interested in anything you've found out about Thomas or the Carberts, as I'm currently researching this part of my family tree.

Here are some ammendments to what I have found out ...

Thomas Carbert was a market gardner in Bishopthorpe, Yorkshire, born in 1813. As far as I know he was married 3 times - wives' names were MARGARET STEAD, ELIZABETH BARRON and MARY BUCKLE. He had over 21 children, not all of whom survived.

Hi there I'm trying to trace the Carberts. Thomas Carbert was a market gardner in Bishopthorpe, Yorkshire, born in 1826. As far as I know he was married 3 times and possibly had 12 children. The children in my family line were :

Elizabeth 1852 Wadworth, Near Doncaster
Emma 1854 - 1921 Yorkshire
Isaac c1854 Yorkshire
Joseph 1856 Bishopthorpe

Joseph married Annie Hare on 17/11/1881

Does this sound familiar to anyone
