Hi, Charles Hazen Card is my great grandfather. I have a copy of his second marriage certificate which states that his parents were James Card born in New Brunswick and Mary Purdy also born in New Brunswick. So you see that he can't be the son of John Card. It's confusing as the only other record of Charles or his parents I can find is the 1851 Census of Dorchester, NB which shows him with his mother (?) Sarah Card. Supposedly James and Mary lived on Deer Island, NB at Leonardville and are buried there. I went to the island a couple of years ago but the cemetery at Leonardville has many stones half buried and has not been kept up so found nothing. From 1863 on I have much info on Charles, his family, his Civil War service, etc. I would be happy to share any of this if you are interested.
