I have seen many references to Samuel Ezra Carels or Carles being born in Lancaster, PA and residing in Philadelphia. I have not found any source info for how we know Samuels middle name was Ezra or that he was born in Lancaster. Can anyone help with this?

I have a Eliza Carles that married a Samuel Harpster in Blair county in or around 1830 Plus have a William Carles that married a Mary Harpster also off blair county. Can you confirm these in anyway.

I belive you are right.my dad told me his family came to united states and change the spelling of there last name a little.my 18 generation was from england.

I am looking for E. Carlis/Carles that married P (Patrick) McCormick in Mississippi. This family is on the Lee Ms. 1880 census. E. Carlis says her mother was born Alabama but Jane Carlis listed in HH as mother-in-law and says she was born in Tenn. Patrick may be my gg grandfather. Does anyone know this family? Thanks, Linda

CARLES, Dominick, from "Lucerne, Austria"

Have come to a dead-end for research on my great grandfather, Dominick CARLES, who mentions on most certificates that he was born in Lucerne, Austria, in about 1857. The only Lucerne I know of is in Switzerland.

Dominick is recorded as being a 20-year-old sailor, coming to Australia in October 1877 as an able seaman. He left shipping at that time and remained in Australia, living mostly in New South Wales, but also in Queensland, for a time.

Is anyone connected with this Dominick Carles or knows anything of his ancestry or of the geography of Europe at his birth?

My great grandfathers brother was Placide's. I dont know much about him or his whereabouts. I would like to know if you have any information on the Carles family. I do know that Teresa (Lassere) Carles and Alolph Carles had several children, one of which was Placide.
