The obituary for Ann BANKS CARLOCK (ca. 1938 – 2012) of Bluefield, West Virginia, who died Feb. 14, 2012, can be found at the following site:
http://bdtonline.com/obituaries/x638260179/Ann-B-Carlock

Ann was the wife of Ira Glynn “Glynn” CARLOCK, Sr., (1937 – 2005), whose obituary can be found at the following site:
http://nrvnews.com/area/archives/735.html

Ira Glynn “Glynn” CARLOCK, Sr., was the son of Frank R. CARLOCK (1914 – 1966) who is buried in the Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow, Polk Co., Florida. The following census records show Frank CARLOCK to be the adopted son of Rock CARLOCK and his wife Ida, with his birth surname possibly ST. CLAIR.

1920 United States Federal Census, Elkhorn, McDowell Co., WV, supervisor's district 5, enumeration district 64, sheet 12B, enumerated Feb. 5 and 6, 1920, dwelling 237, family 238.

1930 United States Federal Census, Elkhorn, McDowell Co., WV.

In addition to the above-mentioned censuses, Rock and Ida CARLOCK also appear on the following census, with Rock’s surname spelled “GARLOTT,” and he and Joc GARLOTT listed as boarders, employed as coal miners, in the household of Ida DIMER(?):

1910 United States Federal Census, Elikhorn, McDowell Co., WV, supervisor's district 5, enumeration district 84, sheet 5A, enumerated Apr. 20, 1910, dwelling 83, family 83.

Ida was listed as having been married for seven years at the time, but her husband was not listed in the household. Ida was listed as having zero children born to her living at the time. Also living in her household at the time was 6-year old “daughter” Ruthie DIMER(?). I believe this to be the same person as the Ruth S. ST. CLAIR, age 15, who was listed as living in Rock and Ida’s household at the time of the 1930 census. I also believe Ida and Rock’s listed ages of 24 at the time of the 1910 census to be incorrect.

The censusus show both Rock and Joc to have been born in Italy, and for their parents to have also been born in Italy. The following source lists Rock’s place of birth as Reage, Italy:

Ancestry.com, Internet, U.S. Military Collection, U.S. World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942, http://landing.ancestry.com/military/collections.aspx?html=m....

It is difficult for me to decipher the year of Rock’s immigration on the 1920 census. It could be 1901, 1907, or 1909. Please let me know if anyone locates the immigration records for Rock and Joc.

Social Security Death Records, at the following site, show Rock CARLOCK to have died in July of 1967:

FamilySearch, Social Security Death Index (http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ssdi/search_ssdi.asp, LDS Church), Internet.
