Hi- My Grandpas name was Helge Gustaf Carlson, born Nov 1 1887. He was married to Anna Carlson and they sometimes wrote their name with a "K" instead of a C. My Grandpa told me that he came to the USA Chicago, and then Seattle area as a single young man year 1913. He worked as a tuna fisher and carpenter for about 15 years. He then went back to Sweden and met my Grandma and stayed there. He always spoke about the wonderful times in America. You can look at the Carlson/Lantz/Christensen Tree for family. However I am so curious about family history past his parents and any relatives here in US. He had siblings named Hedvig, Wilma, Wilhelmina,Kristina, The town he came from in Sweden was Gullspang. My Grandmas maiden name was also Carlson. She had 5 aunts and uncles emigrating to US. We don't know where their families are now. Their names were Mathilda Kristina Johansdotter , Carl Fredrik Johansson Friden, Gustaf Wilhelm Johansson, Elis Wilfred Johansson, Wilma Natalie Johansdotter. (All born 1858-1890). Apparently her original name was Emma Kristina Carlsdotter and she was born in either 1861 or 1862, probably 1862.

The only information I have is that she was born sometime in 186(?) and was born in Goteborg. Her father was Frederick Carlsson.

Johan Ehrenfrid was born out of wedlook to Clara Lovisa Nilsdotter born 09/26/1820 in Askersund. She was then a widow and had Johan with Carl Johansson born in Södra Råda, Skaraborg county 1834. Clara Lovisa died 08/30/1871.

Carl married 1873 Maria Josefin Österberg born 1836 in Hova and when Clara Lovisa died, Johan came to Carl and Marias house-hold. Johan Ehrenfrid had five half-sieblings, children to Clara, two of them Lovisa Alexandra born 09/19/1855 and Maria Bernhardina born 11/20/1857 also went to US. Lovisa 1887 and Maria 1890.

Carl had one son with Maria, who died as a baby.

Henry Akatius Carlson is my grandfather. He was born in Gothenburg, Sweden about 1888.
I am having difficulty researching information from Sweden.
He came to Australia around 1910 and married my grandmother Alma Charlotte Edwards. They had 3 children from that marriage Hilda May born 1912, Walter Henry born 1914, Agda Christina born 1918.
Can anyone help with information on my grandfather. I have only started researching family tree this year, 2008.

There is a great deal of new information for me to digest here. I will do follow-up research in my ancestry.com subscription to see if I can figure out more on siblings of EMILY's who also emigrated to US.

Thanks so much for this. I corrected JOHAN PHILIP's birth information. Where was he born and were all siblings (EMILY included) all born in same place? I have no birth place for her.

The family is also living with a Jan Persson (b. 3 Jun 1774), whom I would assume is either Carl or Maja Stina's father. Will have to look up Carl and Maja Stina's birth records to find out.

Also, Johan Philip was not born in March. He was actually born in May - 7 May 1847. Looked up his birth record to verify.

Information required on any of the following from East Gotland, Sweden:- Axel G CARLSSON, c1834-1924, his sister Johanna(Mrs Johnson)c1837-1921, who both went to USA, dates unknown and my gt-grandfather Anders CARLSSON, c1844-1919, who deserted a US merchant ship (Genko?) from Boston, when it arrived in Sydney, Australia c1867. Anders changed his name to Andrew O. C. Sinclair and became a marine diver in the Torres Straits, where he married and raised seven children.

Am looking for info on my grandfather, who arrived from Sweden in late 19th Century or early 20th. Spelling was Carlsson in Sweden, and changed to Carlson in U.S. He married Bertha Peterson and they had two sons--Norman F. (my father) in l909 , and Jack a few years later. They lived in Omaha, Neb. My grandfather was a railroad man with Union Pacific and helped build the lines West. He died somewhere around l935-40.

Immigrated from Sweden - Naturalized in Rock Island County Illinois January 25, 1872 - have letters deed of property dated 1886 - 1888 address listed as MOUND VALLEY, KANSAS. Information sketchy - but looks like he was married to Christina Marie Johanson a Mary. To date suspect he may have had another wife. Christina (my great-grandmother) also immigrated from Sweden - John Christina had 3 children that I've found (Clarence William Carllson, Callie M. (Garrett) Carllson (Miller), Carl Emile Carllson possibly a 4th named Wilbert C. Carllson - John's naturalized name was John A. Collson, changed numerous times till it became Carllson. Any help out there would be appreciated. On one of the documents I found it was to Mr. John Carlsson.

I am looking for a Tage Carlsson Who may have returned to Sweeden in the late 1920's from NYC. He was my moms father. We think he came to the USA in 1923 when he was 20. After his wife died he returned to Sweeden with his brother leaving my mom and her brother in NY with relatives. After the war nobody knows anything. My mom says he lived in Stockholm. Was the source for this information also from Genline? I do like to try to list sources.

Adolfina (b. 2 Jun 1864)

I also found Adolf's mother, Inga Olofsdotter Nyström, as well as a few of Adolf's siblings: Ana Gustava (b. 1830), Daniel (b. 1836), Ella Franka (b. 1841), Carl Johan (b. 1843). Adolf's father was Jonas Nyström. If you need additional info on Adolf's family, let me know.

As I said, I'm still working on it, but probably won't be able to do too much research until maybe Wednesday or Thursday. I'll let you know what I find out!

You are very welcome! I'm always happy to help others out with their research. Makes you feel good when you really find something too!

My source, Genline, is an online database that has images of Swedish church records.

When I looked up the household examination record (similar to a census) for 1821-1825, it showed Stina Maja as the only child. I then tried to find them in the 1826-1830 household examination records, and they were no longer in Nordkårr. The image of household examination record in 1821-1825 is very dark, so I am unable to see where they moved to, which also means I'm sort of stuck.

The only other thing I can do is go through the pages of the birth records after 1825 to see if I find Carl and Maja Stina listed as parents at all, but there's no way to really be sure they even stayed in Kristberg. That, or I could follow Stina Maja back from the 1890 Census. I'll work on it later on tonight/tomorrow morning and get back to you with what I find!
