My ggggrandfather was W.R. Carlton. Am interested in any information that you have, particularly his parents and his wife's parents. I know that he was married twice. His first wife was Zilpha Walker and then had two children. His second wife was Amanda Hopper and they had 12 children, one of whom is your father Lee Madison Carlton.

My mother is the only daughter of George Franklin Dupin and Dorothy Louise Carlton from Tennessee. Dorothy was the daughter of William Wayne Carlton and Jeanie Ruth Jackson. William was the son of Henry Clinton Carlton and Alice Frost Stephens. Henry was the brother of Lee Madison Carlton.

This is actually Louis Albert Carlton, son of William Albert Carlton and Donna Jane Cannon. W. A. Carlton was the brother of my great-grandfather, Coleman Columbus Carlton. Donna was his second wife, his first being Mary Adeline Fenley (or Finley). She died in 1891.

I am searching for two different lines of Carltons, both in NY. One is James Carlton/Carleton d in Corinth, NY 1879 & was married to Eliza Ann Barber. I am looking for information on their parents.
The second line is Benjamin Carlton/Carleton 1824-1894 in NY married to Ruth unknown 1839-1897. I am looking for information on their parents.

These two lines are possibly related but at this point I don't know.

On Thursday, June 25, a very melancholy accident took place at Bradford.-As Mr. Amos Carlton, of that town, was at work upon the meeting-house, his feet flipt and he fell from the ftage, about 26 feet from the ground, and was bruifed in fuch a manner that he died the Saturday night following. He was a man of a good character, and a kind husband. From the Herald of Freedom (MA) July 2, 1790.

I don't know if this information is what you are looking for or not.

Alfred F. Carlton bc 1816 & died after the 1880 census, wife was Sarah Elizabeth __ bc 1822 & she also died after the 1880 census. I know of 9 children: Granville, Hazeltine, Penelope, Catherine, Anna, Motley, Alma, Frayser & Broaddus Carlton.

Alfred F. was the son of John F. Carlton who died before 1850, who in turn was the son of Christopher & Jane Hart Carlton. The wife of John F. was Lydia F. __ b cir 1790 & died after 1860.

They had 5 children:
(1) Elizabeth m Mr. Sneed. Elizabeth bc 1811 & died 9 Jun 1847 in K&Q, leaving two daughters: Lydia Ann Sneed bc 1841 & m Richard Carlton & Elizabeth Antoinette Sneed (1844-1921) m Richard Aquilla Carlton
(2) the above Alfred F. Carlton
(3) Catherine Carlton m Mr. Wyatt & left one daughter Mary Ella Wyatt who m an Oliver
(4) Antoinette Carlton who m James Gibson
(5) Absolum F. Carlton bc 1825 & d before 1859 m Mary F. Carlton (dtr of Richard Carlton & Mary "Polly" Gibson) Absolum left 2 daughters: Cassandra & Cornelia E. Carlton
After the death of Absolum F. Carlton, his widow Mary "PollY" Carlton Carlton m William Bernard Carlton & they had children.

My mother Ellen Carlton was born in Arkansas. Her father was Benjamin Franklin Carlton and he was born in Texas. And her mother was Angeline Boozer. Family names are funny things, I also have a Chastain with the name Benjamin Franklin.

My cousin Benjamin(there is the name again)Noah has researched the Carltons a little. His mom is my mother's twin Helen. I am stopping now before it takes you an hour to read this.

Children with the names - Mariah b 1821 NC, Almira b 1826 NC, Thomas W b 1828 TN, James Jackson b 1830 TN, and Lewis b 1834 Tn.

Lewis purchased land in Johnson Co Illinois on 1 Jun 1848 and does not appear in the 1850 census. (died or off for gold) The family is found in Johnson County, IL from 1850 into the mid 1900's.

Why did they drop the "r"? Not sure unless it just evolved.
My Father born in AR and raised in OK, I know I've heard him say "Heh CALTON!" When telling a story. Even though he was addressing CARLTON, it was enunciated CALTON! Kinda a slang thing. Then somebody decided if it was spoken CALTON then it must be spelled CALTON.

Byron Astle is from the family line of Richard Astle 1811-1883 and Sarah Hibbert Astle 1810-1891.
Richard and Sarah immigrated to America in 1852, first settling near Quincy, Illinois, and later came to Kansas in April of 1872. I believe he was the son of Joseph Astle 1845-1899 and second wife Serena Alice Fowler 1856-1936.
My dad (I am second daughter of) Harold Astle 1897-1989 and Arlene Blanche Hare Astle 1904-1980. Harold is the son of Thomas Astle 1874-1938, son of William 1840-1916, brother of your Joseph.Would like a copy of you family history.

Re#3 question, I have been researching Christopher Carlton, same time period, of King&Queen Co.Christopher's children,for the most part moved to Halifax Co.,Va. in early 1800's. I think Edmond and Christopher were brothers, but no proof. In searching their records, I often find mention of Ambrose, Edmond, & Philemon. Halifax has excellent records and a most helpful courthouse staff.

Wyatt ?. Carlton age 56 found in the 1860 census, page 100 of the Blue Ridge District, Wauataga Co. NC. It listed him as a farmer. Wife Nancy, Sons: Daniel, Lindsey, Thomas and Cornelius.

The Only Finley I came across is a 15 year old Finley P. Carlton in the 1900 census of the Stoney Fork Township in Wautauga Co. NC. Father Calvin Carlton, mother Nancy.

You might find the tie you are looking for in Calloway County, Missouri. There were Carltons there from about 1840. My branch moved to Texas, but there were at least two brothers who moved there from Halifax County, Virginia. Hope this helps.

I am looking for information on a woman named Chilla (or Chillia) Carlton, born about 1890 in WIsconsin. I have very little information on her other than she married Daniel Webster Hiner (b 1881 in Missouri) and had at least 10 children. Their youngest, Pearl Louise, is my grandmother. I would appreciate any information, as I am currently at a dead end in my search.
