David Carnahan is my ancestor who came from Antrim CO., Ireland. Alex was one of his few sons (read thread about Banksville). I'm filling this in while at work so I don't have the information at hand, but I can fill in nearly anything about this line. I've got it all thanks to very thorough research done by my grandfather. This is the line from which Robert B. Carnahan (judge) and Thomas D. Carnahan (judge) have come. Any questions please let me know and I can fill it in.

I have gone blank on the material on John Carnahan, father of David R. Carnahan. John was born in Ireland about 1780, died in Ohio (?) and was married to Elizabeth Porter about the same age, lived in Penn., and also died in Ohio. David R.Carnahan was the husband of Sarah Gilmore, born 3 Sept. 1968 in Cadiz, Ohio. I need to go back to the ancestors of John and Elizabeth if possible. Carl Carnahan

Carnahans in Mahaska County, Iowa

My grandfather, William Steele Carnahan, was born in Iowa, about 1865, the son of David Carnahan and Sarah Gilmore Carnahan, and lived in Cedar, Mahaska, Iowa in 1880. The family also included sisters Sarah, born about 1853, Amanda. born about 1857. and a brother, Harry, born about 1863. William Steele came to Oklahoma in the later 1800s and settled in Lincoln County and later in Shawnee, OK. On another thread, I believe that the earlier Carnahans were the Kernoghans from County Donegal in Ireland, at least some of them. Does anyone have any connections on my part of the tree? Carl E. Carnahan, carl1928@cox.net

Can someone tell me if he married Matilda Davidson? If so, then I'm in!! I've been searching for William Taylor's parents for many years and haven't been able to link him to a family. Some information I received today leads me to believe that this is the family I've been looking for.

What I know about my William Taylor is that he was born in Arkansas about 1852. He married Matilda Davidson in Maries County, Missouri in 1875. Died in St. Louis County, Missouri on July 26, 1923 as a result of a train accident.

Please, if anyone can help, I'd TRULY appreciate it.

Elaine Ode

I don't think this is my branch of Carnahans, but there have been posts about John Franklin (or Aaron) Carnahan as son of Andrew Carnahan, and I'd like to take a look.
My grandfather was Clarence Carnahan, one of his daughters was Mabel Louise, and I remember Blanche's name being mentioned many times. I think I even meet her when I was a kid. Try looking for information that comes from Perry County KY, local towns like Crab Orchard. Other surnames of Hensley, Bargers, Bowlings. I am trying to find the research I did from 2000. I traced (with good reliability) the Carnahan's back to 1776-78 (Patrick) from Ireland landing in VA.

Benjamine Carnahan was the son of James Harvey Carnahan, my great, great grandfather. Benjamine died by accident leaving, three children and his wife Edwina Gilworth Carnahan, they returned to his, James H. Carnahan,s farm in Industry, Illinois in 1876. The two sons, Charles Walter Carnahan and Fredrick Edward Carnahan were raised by Benjamine,s dad, James H. Carnahan on thefarm, Benjamines daughter, Mary Olive b 1871, was raised by Mary Carnahan Wilson, Benjamines sister in Industry, Illinois. Edwina Gilworth Carnahan left in 1880 to Galesburg, Illinois to her parents and left the children behind. She had anouther son, Albert ( called bertie ) in 1878, probably why she left. I have dates but not handy right now. I can send them latter if that works for you? Thanks Bob C.
