Re: Information about David Carnduff and Elizabeth Wallace from Kilmarnock Scotland

Found the marriage records from Scotlandpeople of David Carnduff and Elizabeth Wallace and also of is son's marriage between David and Janet Shaw. David Carnduff and Elizabeth were married in Kilmarnock, Ayr in 24 Jun 1795 (GROS 597/0060 0079). David's son also David married Janet Shaw on 11 Aug 1821 in Paisley, Scotland (GROS 559/00 0008). There are no birth records for David junior but census of 1841 and 1861 stated that he was born in 1796. He also had one brother, William who may have been born in 1802. Does anyone have the birth records of either David? I have a potential record that David senior was the son of Andrew Carnduff and Marrion Hamilton who were married on 13 Jun 1755 in Avondale, Scotland. Andrew and Marrion settled in Loudoun, Ayrshire, Scotland and had a family of nine children including a David who was born in 1771. Does anyone had any evidence to connect Andrew with David (b est1796) junior?

Information about David Carnduff and Elizabeth Wallace from Kilmarnock Scotland

David Carnduff and Elizabeth Wallace who were married in Kilmarnock 1795 are related to me. David is my 4th great grandfather.
I would be interested in learning anything about their son David (my 3rd ggfather) who married Janet Shaw and had at least one child, Ann (my 2nd ggmother). Ann married Hugh Flinn (or Flynn) and I descend from their son Hugh Flynn who was born in Paisley and latter settled in Barrhead, Renfrewshire, Scotland. I have some records of David Carnduff – 1866 death record and many records about his brother, Thomas etc. David was a carpet weaver. I also have a potential census record from 1841 census for the senior David. I find it very difficult getting any information about David and his wife Janet Shaw and I suspect that David emigrated for a short time to Ireland where he may have married Janet. I have checked the Ulster Historical Society database but there is no confirmation of this. Only Ann Carnduff – recorded as Ann Flynn in the 1881 census states that she was born in Ireland. I would be interested in any information about either David Carnduff or about Elizabeth Wallace or Janet Shaw.
They were married in 1947 in (where else?) Springfield, Sangamon, IL. They also had a son named Conrad. I would love to share the little I have on your branch of the family.
Carrenduff, Northern Ireland

I have ancestors named Carrenduff from Northern Ireland. The name is a variation on Carnduff. They came from Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. John Carrenduff married Ellen Smith - their daughter Sarah born 1860.

The name Carnduff is thought to derive from the 'lands of Carnduff, in the old 'lordship' of Avondale, near Glasgow.
A John Carnduff or Cornduff witnessed the charters by Andrew, lord of Avondale, in 1524 and 1526. (from "Black's Surnames of Scotland")

Regards, Richard

I am trying to catch up with an old school friend, Elizabeth Anne Carnduff. She was born in Canada, grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Northern Ireland when she was about 15. Her father was Irish and his name was Malcolm. Her mother was Scottish and called Edith. She had a younger brother called Alan and a sister Tracie. I beleive they moved to the Newtonards area in N.Ireland. It'd be great to hear from her again and any information would be greatfully accepted.

Sorry that I haven't replied more quickly - my Grand Father has been in hospital for a while and it didn't seem like the right time to question him about my lineage.
Please reply to me by email and I can give you the information. I just don't waant to slap it on an internet message board!

My granddad is the man who knows! He went out to Canada a few years ago with my uncle and met loads of Carnduff out there. Let me know if you want any addresses and stuff, cos I will have to contact him to get it all

My mother's maiden name is Carnduff, and I know my great-grandparents also came from Scotland to Northern Ireland. After World War II most of our family moved to Canada to Medicine Hat, and while there are still a few Carnduffs left over here in Ireland, there are many more in Canada.
