I have always been told they were Scots Irish. Originally from Scotland then settled in Northern Ireland.

I have not been able to trace the family back any farther (on the Carnes side) than Josiah. I was told by my father that they came from Virgina through North Carolina, Kentucky and then into Indiana. Can't prove it though.

Can't prove we are directly related to him but it is possible.
