Hello, My family line is John and Ann Bell Carnes - I found your name in the huge book of all of their offspring after they came to USA form Ireland. It covers 1793 to 2001 The book list their children Henry, Wm Henry, Sarah Ann, Rachel, Robert, John, and James. I have traveled to Belfast twice trying to find info about John & Ann. In Belfast the name is spelled Cairns

No data as yet from Ireland. John is buried near Cambridge Ohio He had three wives. Do you have documented paperwork on the 1826 ship ? The book has the same story - Henry born on the ship : )

I'm descended from their 2nd son William Henry, his 7th child was my great grandfather George Washington Carnes

If you wish to contact me my email is tach60verizon.net Since 1999 is a long time ago, you may not be researching at this time.

Maybe we can help one another. I can tell you what I've found in Ireland.

This Richard Charnes married Susan Carroll in Ind.and I beleive the Carnes's of French Lick, Ind. and the Carnes in North Powder, Oregon and the Charnes's of Ind are all of the same family. They originated from one of the brothers of my ancesters in Ky., but I can not find a direct connection. I think somewhere along the way the last name got spelled differently and that is how it became Charnes on some documents. It is hard to find any Charnes before Richard Charnes.

Hi,
This has been a big mystery to the Carnes family and I would love to get to the bottom of it. I have two "sort of" connections to the Charnes family.
Evidently they originated in Indiana POSSIBLY from a brother of my Carnes family from Ky. I have a letter written in the early 1900's that talks about an old deed that if proved would be very valuable to the Carnes heirs. Then it talks about a lot of Carnes living in North Powder , Oregon. I found a living Carnes there and contacted them. That's where the CHARNES name comes into the picture. In 1810 Josiah Carnes was born and he married Susanna Carroll. It seems that they and their children moved back and forth from Oregon to Indiana. I have no idea what the "deed" was or how it effected my Ky. Carnes. I have tried for years to find a definate connection between the Charnes, Carnes of Indiana and Ky Carnes.
The Carnes that was trying to get this deed through was Frank P. Carnes that left Ky and moved to New Mexico. Sorry I can't be of more help. If you contact the other person I was corresponding with on here, she has a lot more info on the Charnes family.
Thanks'
Hazel

Please feel free to post any information that someone or anyone may be able to use. Personally, Peter Carnes was not of my ancestral line. But as Dr Carnes had sent me the info prior to his death, I felt it was worth posting. I don't know any thing in regards to this family, other than what was in Dr. Carnes' notes. I hope that some of it was and is helpful to others in locating info on their family trees. I hope that you also gain some insight on your family from Dr. John's notes. That was his research and it deserved to continue to be of help tracking his line or help others do so as well. Posting the info was strictly a honor thing to do what I think he would have liked.
Addison "Add" Carnes was the younger brother of George Washington Carnes, born 13 Oct. 1851 in Tippah Co., Miss. They had eight (8) children - 2 boys and 6 girls - all born in Red River Co., TX. Oram and Myrtle were my grandparents, and G.W. and Ellen were my great grandparents. I have a fairly good detailed 'Tree' from G. W. down through descendents.

Re: Cedric, Harry C, Ollie D Missouri, Ohio

"Ollie" was Alice Culver, b. Nov. 1885 & on 1900 census in Linn Twp., Audrain Co., MO. Her parents were George W. Culver, station agent at Rush Hill for the Chicago & Alton RR, and Luro F. Uzzell, daughter of a local farmer. Luro died of typhoid fever on 20 Nov. 1886, and is buried in the Rock Hill Cem. in Audrain Co. George remd. to Louie Belle Miller in Rush Hill on 6 Mar 1888, and they moved after 1894 to Texas -- eventually to Fort Worth -- where he was a RR telegraph operator. But Alice was listed as "Ollie D." on her marriage license, so she must have gone by this name generally. She is my 1st cousin twice removed, through the Uzzell family.

Hello, Although I have a lot of correspondence from Mr. Young to my mother, I do not have a city of birth for Alpheus Carnes. The closest I come is Essex Co.,NJ and since the family was traditionally a farming family, there may not be a city at all. I have Miriam Carnes born 1794 which makes her quite a bit older than her next sibling Ann, my great great grandmother. Most of the information given to our family originated from Elsie Davis. I have been trying to find out who inherited her papers from Mr. Young so I could establish sources. Mr. Young speculated about Mariam Carnes marriages, etc. in his letters. I would be glad to share this with you as it might help your research. My email is wcthdt@winco.net if you would care to correspond. I have a family group sheet on Alpheus, birth, marriage, death, etc. Which of his children are you descended from? Looking forward to hearing from you. H.D.

Hi Gail

My name is Debby and I am researching my boyfriends family tree, he is a great grandson of Monterville Carnes. I have been researching my family for about seven years, hit a brick wall and decided to start his. This is what I have:

I have Monterville 3 yrs old in 1850, living with William and Ellen Carnes in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co. Ohio.

Could not find William and Ellen after that. Did they die or move somewhere else?

Then in 1870 Richland Twp. Logan Co. Ohio I find Montervile 22 yrs. with Sewell, Sarah, Jane, Charles and Robert.

If you could shed some light on this I would appreciate it very much. Census is all I have to go on.

Monterville & Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Carnes buried in Fairview Cem. Logan Co. Ohio

Pearl & Jennie B (LeVally) Carnes. Pearl is also buried in Fairview Cem. Logan Co. Ohio. Do not know where Jennie is buried.

This is Eric's ancestors:
Eric Carnes
Gerald & Donna Lou (ManWarren) Carnes
Harroll Leonidas & Stephanie Marie(Wizalis) Carnes
Pearl & Jennie B. (LeVally) Carnes
Monterville & Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Carnes

Which Carnes are you from? I have a photo of Joseph Heller LeVally and Pearl Carnes together and two more of Pearl alone. My e-mail address is ecarnes1013@comcast.net

Hope to hear from you
Deb
Gera

I have visited her and Sam's grave. It's in the shoal Creek district near Lavonia, Ga. Unfortunately, the graves are in rough shape. Sam's is the only one with a clearly printed stone. He was a confederate enlisted man. If you let me know I'll tell you where it is. Ted Carnes
