Which supports what many, including me, have long contended, that there is no such thing as a Melungeon "race."

The Y-DNA test results of the core Melungeon families show a predominance of European and sub-Saharan African haplogroups (viz., R1b1a2 and E1b1a, respectively):
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/coremelungeon/default.as...

And please note, not a single J2a4b.

The DNA evidence tells us not only that we "connect," but that we connect "in genealogical time," that is, within 10-15 generations. That connection is solid whether you have paper to support it, or not. If you have this haplotype:

http://dgmweb.net/DNA/Carrico/CarricoDNA-results-HgJ2a4b.htm...

you are either descended from Peter CARRICO, 1674 immigrant to Maryland, or someone very closely related to him (e.g., a brother, uncle, or close cousin). So far, Peter appears to have been the only CARRICO immigrant to the U.S. prior to the 20th Century, so the probablity is high that he's your ancestor.

When the DNA and the paper don't agree, as with the paper descendants of Reason CARRICO, we say the DNA is correct and the paper is wrong:
http://dgmweb.net/FGS/Car/CarricoReason-ElizabethEngle.html

Reason CARRICO must be an adopted son of Charles CARRICO, not his biological son, because descendants of the other sons of Charles do match Peter, the immigrant. In other words, it's possible for the DNA to prove the paper wrong, but it's simply not possible for the paper to prove the DNA wrong. DNA always trumps paper.

That doesn't mean we stop searching for the paper connections — far from it — but it does suggest that the first step in doing one's genealogy ought to be DNA testing. I implore all men, not just all male CARRICOs to by Y-DNA tested, if not for yourself, they for family genealogists, now and in the future.

Might I also state that DNA without a paper trail to confirm the results tell us only that we all connect. It is the paper trail that confirms the connection.

I am still trying to search the "paper" trail to connect those of us who descend from Peter.

Y-DNA testing clearly shows that Peter CARRICO, 1674 immigrant to Maryland, was not African or Amerindian. His Y-DNA haplogroup (J2a4b) indicates an Anatolian-Mediterranean origin. Please see Map E on this page:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1181965/figure/F...

"Melungeon" is not a race or ethnicity, it's a culture, so it has no genetic signature that unites it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melungeon

And there's nothing to suggest that Peter or any of his descendants were part of that culture. CARRICO is not a recognized Melungeon surname, they are not remotely a genetic match with any of them so far tested, and they aren't known to have lived in their communities.

If you look at the early census records of the counties where the Melungeons mainly settled, namely, Hawkins and Hancock Cos., TN, and Lee Co., VA, you find that no CARRICOs, at all, lived in Tennessee before 1860 and only one CARRICO family lived briefly in Lee Co., VA:
http://dgmweb.net/Census/Carrico/VA/CarricoCenTime-VA.html#L...

I'm stretching my memory here, but I do not recall that any of the early CARRICOs were labeled black or mulatto, which they likely would have been had they been Melungeon. The only antebellum census record of an African-American CARRICO I've found, so far, is an Amy CARRICO (b. ca. 1780 in MD) living in the 1850 census of Spencer Co., KY, neither of which locations suggests she was Melungeon:
http://dgmweb.net/Census/Carrico/KY/CarricoCenTime-KY.html#S...

Given that many American CARRICO families once owned slaves, we would expect that there were CARRICO males who fathered children with them, and we do find African-American families in the U.S. census who are surnamed CARRICO — after the Civil War, when African-American began being enumerated in the census. Through Y-DNA testing, it would be possible to determine whether any of the living male "black" CARRICOs are biological descendants of Peter or whether they simply adopted their owner's surname when freed.

Bottom line: DNA evidence proves an Anatolian-Mediterranean origin of Peter CARRICO. His surname suggests an origin in Portugal, Spain, or Italy. History and his haplogroup suggest he might have been a Jewish Converso.

Numerous descendants of Peter CARRICO, 1674 immigrant to Maryland, have been Y-DNA tested. They are all Haplogroup J2a4b:
http://dgmweb.net/DNA/Carrico/CarricoDNA-results-HgJ2a4b.htm...

There's nothing to suggest, either genetically, geographically, or genealogically, that Peter CARRICO was a Melungeon. His origin remains unproven, but it weighs in the direction of his being a "Converson," that is, a Portugues Jew who was forced to convert to Catholicism during the Spanish Inquisition.

The CARRICO Y-DNA signature is not just unique, it's quite unlike that of anyone else so far Y-DNA tested. Our nearest matches indicate a common ancestor thousands of years ago, well before the beginning of "genealogical time." The lack of DNA matches for the descendants of Peter CARRICO is the reason the CARRICO Y-DNA project seeks and subsides the testing of non-American CARRICOs, in the hope of someday "crossing the pond."

In the meantime, there's simply nothing to suggest he was Melungeon. He doesn't bear a known Melungeon surname, he didn't live where they lived, and he doesn't remotely have a Y-DNA match with any of them. He is neither African or Amerindian, but genetically "Anatolian - Mediterranean." See Map E on this page for a distribution of haplogroup subclade J-M67:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1181965/figure/F...

Some contend his immediate origin was France, and there are definitely CARRICOs living in France, today, just as there are ones living in the U.S., today, but his genetic haplogroup indicates an earlier origin elsewhere. And the reason for his migration may have been that he was Jewish and escaping persecution. In any case, Peter's story is an interesting one, one I hope we can unravel, and it is probably only through Y-DNA testing that we will.

Re: Carrico origins

I copy this years ago from an onlne family file:

Our Carrico Family line begins in the early 17th Century with Peter Carricoe or Curricoe. Notes from Robert Alvey, Researcher & Descendent: "Traditions have been handed down through the family "The first record found in Maryland shows transportation of one Peter Carrico to Maryland in 1657. This Peter, possibly the father of the others, may have obtained a land grant in Charles County, Maryland and then returned to France for his family. The second trip was made in their own ship called "La Voyage". It was manned by a group of brothers, among them were a pair of twins, Peter & Paul, believed to have been the oldest and a sister Jane. They began a settlement in Charles County at Bryantown, Maryland. A Peter Carricoe immigrated to Maryland in 1674 as an indentured servant on an English ship. A warrant was issued on 17 June 1674 for 650 acres to Samuel Dobson of Charles County, Maryland for the transportation of 13 persons - John Daniels, Roger Roberts, Thomas Thompson, John Tibbot, Alexander Seasor, Samuel Lee, Henry keeling, Ralph Givin, William Marsh, George Sutton, John Dorrinton, Peter Curico and Mary Cooke (Charles County Patent Book 18, page 80.).

From whence the Carricos emigrated to the Colonies is shrouded in the mists of the years. Every branch of the family has its tradition as to the original homeland of the family, Portugal, France, Italy, Spain, England and Scotland have their proponents. Those who favor Scotland has their claim upon a somewhat tortuous evolution of the name from "McFearchar." It is feared that those who claim Spain are guilty of an assumption based upon the Latin sound of the name. Those who assert that France was the home of the family maintain that many of "The Old Folks" spoke French fluently. This group claims that the name was originally "Carriceau" or Carricoits" and that a Nun named Carricoits attained sainthood in France. Those who claim Italy as the old work home of the family have two unrelated incidents to reinforce their tradition. The first was a letter received by the author of this article (Homer E. Carrico) in 1930 from Leander C. Carrico of Fort Smith, Arkansas., who stated, "Our family has always claimed that the family came from Northern Italy where there was a village named 'Carrico',". The other incident occurred in the later years of World War II when a man who described himself as a former Italian prisoner-of-war, but whose status then was that of a co-belligerent, telephoned Miss Stella Carrico in Louisville, Kentucky and in the course of the conversation stated that 'My mother's maiden name was Carrico and she lived in a village named 'Carrico' in Northern Italy". Those who claim Portugal have an interesting unproven theory. Documentation at the Municipal Library in MontemoroNovo, Portugal describes the case of Pero Dias Carrico. Pero is Portugese for Peter. Pero Dias Carrico was imprisoned by the Spanish Inquisition in 1629 for the crime of "Judaismo." It is not known if he was actually Jewish or the charges were trumped up. Those imprisoned had to buy their way out, so the wealthy were at risk. After four years, Pero Dias converted to Catholicism, paid his fines, and flew the country, possibly to France. There is no supporting documents that Pero Dias Carrico and Peter Curricoe are of the same blood line, however, the only country outside of the United States where Carrico is common is Portugal. Pero Dias was 52 years old sometime during his imprisonment which makes his year of birth about 1579 and is the son of Mauel Pires Carrico and Brites Fernandez. Manuel Pirez Carrico is the son of pero Dias Carrico and Maria Lima/Simoes.

The Carrico name is found in nearly every state in the Union, and all or most of the migration to the Central and Western states was through Kentucky. The name has a number of variations in spelling, the most usual from being CARRICO, which is used throughout this article, other spellings found have been: CARICO, CARICOE, CARRICOE, CARRACHO, CALICO, CALLICO and CERICO. The Carricos were and are adherents of many religious sects - Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, and Mormans have been encountered.

Peter Carricoe and other family members decided to return to France to sell all property there, purchase stock and seed and equipment and furnishings, also to bring members of the family who had remained at home in France. Peter had married and begun a family, so he was left behind to take care of the new settlement. Possibly some of the other brothers left wives and family in Peter’s charge. The ship was loaded and they set sail again from a port in France (it is claimed that they lived along the Spanish/French border, possibly near the port of Bordeau in the north, or Marsailles in the south. They did not make it back to the Maryland colony. The ship was either lost at sea or attacked and captured and killed by pirates. Only Peter and his family and possibly the wife and family of one or two of his brothers remained from whom the Carrico family in the United States descend.

Peter was born about 1655 in Normandy, France and had four sons, Peter, Abel, Gerald and James, and one daughter, Jane, from whom we can track most of the Carrico’s, but a few who we cannot connect, leading tot he belief that another brother may have left a wife and children. Peter Carrico was given a 50 acre land grant in 1681. He sold 60 acres of land to Walter Story in Charles County in 1707. Peter’s wife has probably died by this time as she is not listed on the deed. In 1719, Peter requested to be relieved from taxation due to old age.

The names Abel and Peter appear in Maryland records early in the 1700's. "The progenitors of the Carrico family in America, according to tradition and such small amount of documentary references as has been found, were Peter of Carrico Hope in Bryantown Hundred, Charles County, Maryland and Abel of Charles County, and also of Fairfax County, Virginia. A tradition, stoutly asserted by some Carrico descendants, is that an earlier Peter Carrico, father of Peter and Abel, came to the Colonies under the auspices of the second Lord Baltimore. Without doubt Peter and Abel were brothers, as their marriages in MD were within a few years of each other. Although there has been no written record found, tradition has it that the two brothers had a sister, Jane, who married John Moore, a brother of the English poet Thomas Moore. It is regrettable that so many blanks appear in the genealogical data of the CARRICO family here presented." From Filson Club Quarterly, Vol. 25 Pg. 218. Grantor _____1707 Charles Co., MD. From Robert W. Barnes, "Maryland Genealogy Society Bulletin, Charles County Depositions: From Charles County Land Records," serial unknown, Vol. 33-34, Vol 33 fall 1992 #4p 699. Carricoe, James age 70, 28 Sep 1763, stated his father was Peter Carricoe (Charles County Land Records p#3,59:614). James, Peter, and Abel are listed in the 1733 Charles County Tax list with James living in the Benedict Leonard District and Peter and Able living in the Newport West Side Upper District. Tradition also says that there was a serious rift between the brothers Peter & Abel due to religion. They were originally a Catholic family and Peter & most of his descendents at least for the first few generations remained Catholic. Abel married Elizabeth Sims, a Huguenot, and moved with them to Fairfax County, Virginia, where his family was raised Protestant.

Has anyone heard the story of three brothers coming to the U.S., two returned home to get their families, but the ship they were on sank and Peter, who remained here, was the only one of the three to survive? Years ago someone posted on here the story and lineage. My grandfather had told me this story as a child and I've been looking for it.

Re: Joanna Carrico
Hi,
I have the info you need. But most of it has been answered for you already. Joanna was not a Carrico but Kerrick and misspelled in the register as Carrique. I remember speaking with Richard Mudd on the phone years ago on Mudd in the Kerrick lines, he was very helpful. Here is what I have so far. Note: That Joanna Kerrick Mudd listed Benjamin Harrison Kerrick as her brother on her marriage register. Later James Kerrick son of Benjamin H.Kerrick and Mary Carrico was posted in a newspaper that he was leaving Ky to move out to Calif. and stopping in Illinois to visit cousins their. I feel he was referring to Joanna Kerrick Mudds children or one of them? Also, early before that, Brenda Kerrick Morrison of Ky found where 3 of Benjamin Harrisons sons were born in southern Illinois around early 1800's. I suspect it was same county the Joanna Kerrick Mudd and family had already moved to in Randolph County IL, which happens to be the
first County formed in Illinois I am to understand. Please feel free to contact me and anyone else doing research at
itsme61701@yahoo.com Take care. Mark
JOANNA KERRICK was born Abt. 1765 in CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND. She married THOMAS MUDD Bet. 1781 to 1783 in Poss. CHARLES CO. MARYLAND. He was born in CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND.

Notes for JOANNA KERRICK:
Thomas and Joanna Kerrick Mudd
Thomas Mudd was born in MD. His ancestors were of the Lord Baltimore Party. Some of them took part in the Revolutionary war. He married Joanna Carrick in MD. Her ancestors were also participants in the war for independence. A short time after his marriage to Joanna, Thomas Mudd move to Ky from Md and located in Spencer CO, [see note at bottom], were he was a pioneer and settle down to farm life. He and Joanna had nine children, seven sons and two daughters, James, Edward, Francis, Joseph, Felix, John, and Thomas H. Teresa and Lucreta. James, the oldest one of the sons came from Ky to Randolph, IL one year before his father. He was married to Amelia O'Hara in KY. They had six sons, William, Henry, Felix, Charles, Leo, and Pius. And three daughters, Margeret A, Harriet, Eliza. They all stayed in Randolph CO, IL except for Felix who moved to TX. James and Amelia Mudd as stated above, moved to Randolph CO, IL in 1818. His father Thomas moved here in 1819. William Mudd the son of James Mudd was born in 1816 the only child to James Mudd to be born outside of IL. In 1857 he was chosen as a candidate for the office of Circut Judge for IL. After serving four years as Judge he was reelected and served another term.
Information taken from the book; History of Randoph County, IL.
Notes:
Thomas and Joanna lived in the same County as Benjamin H. Kerrick and Robert and Ann "Carrick" Hevrin. Other family members from Maryland followed later. Thomas Mudd was the Gaurdian of Ann Kerrick - Joanna Mudd's sister.
Notes for THOMAS MUDD:
More About THOMAS MUDD and JOANNA KERRICK:
Marriage: Bet. 1781 to 1783, Poss. CHARLES CO. MARYLAND
Children of JOANNA KERRICK and THOMAS MUDD are:
1. JAMES MUDD.
2. EDWARD MUDD.
3. FRANCIS MUDD.
4. JOSEPH MUDD.
5. FELIX MUDD.
6. JOHN MUDD.
7 THOMAS H. MUDD.
8. TERESA MUDD.
9. LUCRETA MUDD.

Ann Kerrick Hevrin moved from MD to Washington CO. KY before 1797 possibly with Thomas
Mudd and Joanna Kerrick {Carrick}. She married Robert Hevrin in Washington CO. KY at St. Rose
Catholic Church and declared Benjamin Harrison Kerrick as her Brother and next of kin on her marriage Certificate, and Thomas Mudd as her Guardian.
Information donated by Dr. Richard Mudd
Mark itsme61701@yahoo.com

Amandah's birthname is Hines. She is the daughter of Jackson Hines. Somehow she went with the Richardson name. I believe she took the name from the farm owners, and used it to pass as a white woman. Jackson Hines was the son of the farm owner who was Ireland. Caroline Atwell was her mother, who was giving the name Atwell after being found at the well. She was left there by her white mother, who could not keep her, because she was pregnant by a man from the islands. I have all of that information. I'm just stuck trying to find how she had Sarah, and her marriage to Alfred.

Yes, Alfred lived with his married daughter, Bertha (CARRICO) JACKSON, in the 1900 census, but in 1870, Bertha wasn't even born, yet.

I dug through the census pretty thoroughly, and I'm convinced the Alfred CARRICO living with the KENDALLs and Benedict CARRICO in 1870 is the one listed next door to Benedict CARRICO in 1880. I believe Benedict's father, James Hiram CARRICO, was Alfred's owner, if not Alfred's father, and the KENDALLs are Benedict's in-laws. Note that James's middle name was Hiram, and Alfred & Amanda named a son, Hiram. It's not exactly a common given name.

As I mentioned, it's not unusual for ages to be "off" from census to census. I do believe they're wrong for Alfred and Amanda in 1880, and I note that on their page:

http://dgmweb.net/FGS/Car/CarricoAlfred-Amanda_.html

I agree with you that the ages in the census, particularly of Alfred, appear incorrect. Having ages be "off" from census to census, sometimes widely, is not unusual. Keep in mind that we don't know who was the informant here. It might have been one of the children or even a neighbor. It is really worth reading up about the problems with census records. While they're probably a genealogists single best tool, they are without their problems.

I agree that Amanda's maiden name was not RICHARDSON. According to a Public Member Tree at Ancestry.com, her maiden name was HINES. I am in the process of adding that information to their page, right now. Because if the uncertainty of Amanda's birthname, I've changed the URL to:

http://dgmweb.net/FGS/Car/CarricoAlfred-Amanda_.html

Amanda did marry Alfred as Amanda RICHARDSON, which would suggest she possibly married a Mr. RICHARDSON before she married Alfred. A prior marriage would explain the children born before she and Alfred married -- at least, it would explain Frank and Nora, though not Sarah. Amanda HINES shows up unmarried and living with her parents in the 1870 census, and Sarah was born ca. 1868.

I don't have any final answers for you, I'm just gathering what data I can find.

Hey, i sent you an email as well. So many things i am noticing. One being Amandah gave birth to Sarah at the age of 13. Amandah and Alfred were born around 10 years apart, yet they were both 25 in the census for i believe 1870. I don't get it. Someone was telling lies or either someone wrote the wrong information.

I do know Amandah is not a Richardson. I believe that was the name she used to pass as white. Her mother was the daughter of the slave owner's daughter. So she was mixed, but I'm guessing only wanted to be white. I took that assumption by her changing her name; using the estate owners name. I have contacted a few people on her side of the family to see if I could get any information about the Carrico kids. It is Sarah, Frank, Bertha (who i have a picture), nora, hiram, and robert.

I can't tell if we're related until a patrilineal descendant of Alfred has been Y-DNA tested. If his Y-DNA is a match for the CARRICOs, then yes, we'd be cousins. If Alfred simply adopted the CARRICO name and his patrilineal ancestry is African-American, then no, we wouldn't be related.

Also, are you sure the Alfred with the Kendall's are the same as the others with the kids? I believe I did look at that before and saw something was not right with it. The alfred i have in my line lived with Bertha Jackson and her kids. the other alfred lived with the kendalls. also, i'm not sure but i believe the ages were different. I'm going to look again now to check.

Thanks so much for the replies!

Thank you for the birth records of the post-1880 children. I didn't have those.

I'm of the belief that "Benjamin J. CARRICO" is actually Benedict Joseph CARRICO because he started out with that name. In the 1850 census with his parents, he is "Benedict," and in his marriage record, he is "Benedich." Yes, he's "Benj." in 1870 census and "Benjamin" in the 1900 census, but I'm inclined to think those are enumerator errors. The enumerator was told "Ben," then assumed it was Benjamin and wrote that down. He did go mostly by "Ben." Also, his grandfather was Benedict, so it makes more sense he was Benedict, not Benjamin.
http://dgmweb.net/FGS/Car/CarricoBenedictJoseph-MaryAnnKenda...

Valentine Thomas KENDALL & Margaret SHACKLETT are the parents of Ben's wife, Mary Ann KENDALL:
http://dgmweb.net/FGS/K/KendallValentineThompson-MargaretSha...

Alfred CARRICO was almost certainly a slave owned by Benedict's father, James Hiram CARRICO
http://dgmweb.net/FGS/Car/CarricoJamesHiram-HelenBurtle.html
as a slave of that age and gender appears in the 1850 and 1860 censuses in his household. James and Benedict were the only CARRICO households in the county through that period, and Benedict's only slave in 1860 was an 8-year-old girl.

Three of the four children in household with Alfred & Amanda in the 1880 census were born before they married:
http://dgmweb.net/FGS/Car/CarricoAlfred-AmandaRichardson.htm...
so, even though they are enumerated as "son" and "daughter," I don't know if we can be certain the three are the biological children of both of them.

If Alfred has any living male patrilineal descendants, it would certainly be possible to determine whether or not he was a biological CARRICO by Y-DNA testing. The CARRICO haplotype is highly distinctive.

Here's some information that you may or may not have. Note that in the 1870 Census, Alfred is living in the family of Thomas Kendall, and his son-in-law, Benjamin Carrico. Alfred is listed as Mulatto. He was probably a former slave of the Carrico family, and possibly also a child of one of the Carrico adults and a slave. Benjamin J. Carrico is the son of James Hiram Carrico and Helen Burtle, grandson of Benedict Carrico and Sarah Mattingly.

Kentucky Marriages, 1785-1979
Groom's Name: Alfred Carrico
Groom's Birth Date:
Groom's Birthplace:
Groom's Age:
Bride's Name: Amanda Richardson
Bride's Birth Date:
Bride's Birthplace:
Bride's Age:
Marriage Date: 05 Dec 1877
Marriage Place: Brandenburg, Meade, Kentucky
Groom's Father's Name:
Groom's Mother's Name:
Bride's Father's Name:
Bride's Mother's Name:
Groom's Race:
Groom's Marital Status:
Groom's Previous Wife's Name:
Bride's Race:
Bride's Marital Status:
Bride's Previous Husband's Name:
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I05197-0
System Origin: Kentucky-EASy
Source Film Number: 2116584
Reference Number: item 1

United States Census, 1870
Residence: District 4, Meade County, Kentucky
Post Office: Garnett, Kentucky
Thompson Kendall, 62, m, w, farmer, 6000, 1000, b Ky
Margaret Kendall, 60, f, w, keeping house, b Ky
Horace T Kendall M21y
Benj I Carrico, 32, m, w, farmer, 0, 1000, b Ky
Mary A Carrico, 30, f, w, at home, b Ky
James J Carrico, 10, m, w, at home, b Ky
Benjn J Carrico, 8, m, w, at home, b Ky
Maggie H Carrico, 6, f, w, at home, b Ky
Maria Carrop, 15, f, b, domestic servant, b Ky
Alfred Carrico, 22, mu, m, farm hand, b Ky

United States Census, 1880
Residence: Court House, Meade, Kentucky
NARA Film Number: T9-0433
Page: 556
Page Character: D
Entry Number: 1967
Film number: 1254433
Alfred Carrico, self, b, m, 25, married, farm labor, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Amanda Carrico, wife, b, f, 25, married, keeping house, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Sarah Carrico, daughter, b, f, 12, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Frank Carrico, son, b, m, 7, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Nora Carrico, daughter, b, f, 5, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Hyram Carrico, son, b, m, 2, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky

United States Census, 1900
Residence: Louisville city, Jefferson, Kentucky
1528 Kentucky Street
Enumeration District: 0105
Sheet Number and Letter: 4B
Household ID: 86
Reference Number: 97
GSU Film Number: 1240532
Image Number: 00093
Alfred Carrico, head, b, m, Apr 1846, 54, married 23 yrs, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky, Hosler
Amanda Carrico, wife, b, f, May 1853, 47, 8 children, 5 living, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Bertha Carrico, daughter, b, f, Feb 1889, 11, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Robert Carrico, son, b, m, Oct 1890, 9, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
John Valentine, son-in-law, b, m, Apr 1864, 36, widow, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky, Day Laborer
Kirby Valentine, grandson, b, m, Jul 1887, 12, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Nellie Valentine, granddaughter, b, f, Jun 1890, 9, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Nina Valentine, granddaughter, b, f, Feb 1895, 5, single, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky
Nora Garrison, daughter, b, f, Oct 1877, widow, 0 children, b Ky, father b Ky, mother b Ky

Indiana, Marriages, 1811-1959
Groom: Raymond Jackson
Groom's Race: Colored
Groom's Date of Birth: 24 Jul 1885
Groom's Place of Birth: Louisville, , Kentucky
Groom's Residence: Louisville, , Kentucky
Groom's Number of Marriage: 1
Groom's Father: Oliver Jackson
Groom's Mother: Mary Spencer
Bride: Bertha Carrico
Bride's Race: Colored
Bride's Date of Birth: 03 Feb 1888
Bride's Place of Birth: , Mead, Kentucky
Bride's Residence: Louisville, , Kentucky
Bride's Number of Marriage: 1
Bride's Father: Alfred Carrico
Bride's Mother: Amanda Richardson
Informant Name:
Date of License: 06 Sep 1908
County of License: Clark
Date of Marriage: 06 Sep 1908
Place of Marriage: , Clark, Indiana
Official:
Record Number:
Film Number: 1415877
Digital Folder Number: 4476599
Image Number: 00118
Number of Images: 1

Ohio, County Marriages, 1790-1950
Name: Robert Harrison Carrico
Titles &

Hello, I'm searching for the family of Alfred Carrico. I'm at a dead end with him. I have everyone under him but nothing above him. I can't get much information on him or any siblings. Some of his kids are...

Sarah Carrico (my 3xGreatGrandmother)(later Sarah Valentine)

Frank Carrico

Nora Carrico (later became Nora Garrison)

Hiram Carrico

Bertha Carrico (later Jackson)

Robert Carrico

Most where born in Kentucky, but from what i am finding they moved all over from Detroit, ohio, indiana, and more places. I have no idea of what information is accurate. I now have one picture of Bertha Carrico, and that is all i have.

If anyone could please email me or reply. i greatly appreciate it!

Jocelyn

On our line my Dad was the only one who had any children and I am the oldest born in 1933. I checked on the line who settled in Spokane Wa. Dennis H. Carrico who came West with his brother James, my GGGrandfather.
Wish I could help. If I run across his name anywhere I will contact you.
Berny

Hi Dave,

Would you just happen to remeber any of the sister's names, or maybe his mother's name? Did he have any brothers?

We have twelve Boyd Carricos, some with a second name. Some of the dates are possible. Is Orofino, Clearwater Co. Idaho anywhere near your home town?

Aloha,

Marilyn and Dan Devaney in Hawaii

Hello, Joseph A. Carrico (Joe) was my best friend in mountain home Idaho. I'm 52 knew he had 4 sisters, however he lived with his father Boyd near mountain home high school, his father boyd died of liver disease. I was born 1958, most memorable event was I stayed over one night his father Boyd came home late and I woke up with him beating on me then threatened to shoot me as I ran out the door in my underwear and socks! Very vivid, I'll let Joe feel in any details about our friendship. He was a joker and we wreaked terror in Mt. Home:)

Our other friends were Wade Ray, Ray Turner, Rick Turner, can't remember them all. He joined the Navy, after wards worked an oil rig and lived in Indianapolis and married to possibly Sandy or Sandra Carrico. Joe, Wade and me met once for a beer that was the last I heard. Tell him I said hello!!!

Take care, Dave

Re: from Portugal

Nuno:

I have not been on the message board for sometime, but I do have a request. We are looking for Portuguese males surnamed Carrico to join the Carrico DNA project. Our goal is to connect the Carricos of America who nearly all descend from one person, Peter Carrico of eastern Maryland. He arrived in 1674. We have a fairly complete DNA profile proving connections to the current generation of Carricos back to Peter. Next, we want to show, or not show, whether this Carrico came from related Carricos in Portugal. Could you help? Let me know. Thanks. Muito gracias!
