I am wondering if you are related to my g-g-grandmother Sarah J Carrigan who married Henry T Kelsey. They had 10 siblings (2 babies died). They lived in Cambridge, Ma. My g-g-grandfather parents are from England & Maine and g-g-grandmother are from Canada. Sarah's parents migrated in 1862 to America.

I too am researching New York Carrigan's (Cargain). I have William Carrigain (1805- 1860) son of Gilbert Carragan (1751 - 1848) and Charity (1758 - 1841). William married Margaret Hunt (1817- 1870). I think it was a first marriage for her and 2nd for him. William's children were:

Belden abt 1830
Narsey abt 1834
Gilbert abt 1836
John abt 1837
Almirah abt 1839 m. Nathaniel Smalley
Charles E.abt 1840
Emma Melissa (my 2nd ggrandmother)1844- btwn 1920-1930 m. Peter J. Warren

I can tell you that my grandmother was married to a Fred Nevieus in the last 20's early 30's and lived in Los Angeles. Also, we have Irish in our family who arried in states mirgated to Colorado and then Sothern Cafifornia. Blance who was married to Fred was born in Aspen Colorado. I do not believe they were married long. OF course he could have been married twice or more...

Something very odd just happened! I missed an email to my yahoo account. It was from back in Dec. I just came across it tonight. It was from a Rosario Carrigan...this is so cool because her name, I remember from reading the obituary...she is married to a man, who's father IS the deceased Tom Carrigan! Her name stood out because she lives in Miami and her husband is a twin of two boys...who were also mentioned in the obituary!!!

But, she just asked a very vague and odd question...."What services do you provide" ...I have no idea of what she is talking about????
I am awaiting a response from her now!

Don't know if it will help. The social security death list does not list a Thomas Carrigan dying in 2005. There is one that matches a lot of what you mentioned. The information is

Thomas M. Carrigan Jr. 12 Aug 1937 26 Dec 2003 Farrell, Mercer, Pennsylvania

However, that would mean he would not be in the census that is available. Depending on your age, this may be the proper individual. I found 7 Thomas' who died between 2003 and 2007 from the index. This was the only one with an M for a middle initial. If this fits, it may lead you to more information. Every little bit helps in these searches and sometimes a stray bit of info turns out to be the key to unlock all the doors. Good luck. Bill

Alick & Irene are my paternal grandparents and both died before I was born. (pre 1960's) Irene was born abt 1888.
They had four children, Jack & Jean (twins) b) 1916, Edward b)1918, and Donna b)1921. Jean was born with a defect and died in her teens. It is believed the the four children were born in Topeka Kansas.

My ancestors, James Carrigan and his wife Isabel Brown immigrated from Cootehill, Ireland through Cork in 1752. They were in York County, Pennsylvania and then Orange County, North Carolina (neighbors to another James Carrigan) and wound up in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. They are both buried at Coddle Creek ARP Cemetery in Iredell County, NC. I am willing to share information on their descendants.

Recently obtained the death cert. for a Stephen Bertram HUSBAND who died in 1946 in Eaglescliffe Durham.

The informant (who was also present at the death) was a B.M. Carrington (no indication given as to male or female).

The only CARRINGTON birth that I can find with the initials B.M. is a Beatrice M. CARRINGTON who's birth was registered somewhere in the Chester Le Street district.

If this is the same person I should like to find out what happened to her what "the story is".

Charles and Elizabeth Search

I am looking for the date and place of death for Charles Carrigan, who died in 1952. I have never been albe to locate a death record for him. He was born in 1869 near Corning, Ohio, in Perry county and is buried there. His wife was Elizabeth (Eliza) Carrigan, the daughter of Lucinda Oiler and Mahlon Search. Mahlon and Lucinda moved to Hopedale in Harrison county, Ohio, sometime after 1900. Just as with Charles Carrigan, I do not have the date and place of death for Mahlon Search. Charles and Elizabeth were married in Perry county on 15 October 1891, although at the time Charles spelled his last name Kavegan.

Just letting you know we have new test results posted for one of our members in the Corrigan Surname yDNA Project.

Kit # 78958, J Corrigan matches 36 out of 37 markers with Kit # N10033, H Corrigan, who can trace his family line back to Michael Corrigan born 1791 in Ireland.
36 out ot 37 markers is considered a very close match.

We have new results in for the Corrigan/Carrigan yDNA Project.

Our newest member is part of a group of 4 men tested to see if they could determine whether they were descended from three brothers, the sons of Patrick Corrigan b 1785 in Ireland.
Their paper trails led them to believe they were related, and they have used yDNA testing to confirm or eliminate this relationship.

Our latest family are on the line of;
Patrick Corrigan, b 1785 Ireland, marr Rose Ann Folun.
Patrick Corrigan Jr, b 1816 Co Mayo Ireland, marr Mary Riley.
James Peter Corrigan, b 1853 Dixon Lee Co Illinois, marr Margaret Ellen Dineen.
Joesph Corrigan.

With 37 markers results in for all men we have discovered that Kits 98149 and N54927 match exactly at 37 markers and are descended from 1 brother.
They differ from Kits 104447 and 99650 on 2 markers.
Kit 104447 and 99650 are descended from the 2 other brothers and only have 1 mismatch between them.
At 37 markers a mismatch of 1 would indicate a tightly related relationship, and a mismatch of 2 indicates related.
So it would appear that the yDNA has supported the paper trail and these 4 men are all related.

We have results back for two members in the Corrigan/Carrigan and variants surname yDNA Project.

Our latest members are;
Kit 89823, who can trace back to Parick Corrigan born 1836 in Ireland,
and Kit 92523 who can track back to Michael Corrigan born abt 1843, of County Down, Ireland.

We still have only one Carrigan member, who can trace back to Co Cavan Ireland. He has a completely different result to the other project members so far, so it should be easy to see any lineage matches.

Hi Jo,

The yDNA is carried from fathers to sons to grandsons, so a male testing for the Carrigan line would need to be a Carrigan. (Or if he has changed his surname, know that his paternal line was Carrigan/Corrigan etc..)
yDNA is not passed onto females. As a female I needed a male Carrucan relative to test to represent my family line of Carrucan.

I contacted my dad's cousin--a Carrigan--and talked to him about DNA testing. He agreed to order a free kit from www.SMGF.org and submit his pedigree chart. SMGF doesn't charge any money for their service because they don't actually tell you the markers after they test them. But they do post the pedigree chart and DNA markers in their database for people who do have markers tested by a comercial lab, like FamilyTreeDNA or Relative Genetics. Once his test gets posted, I will post another message so everyone in your surname project can see if he is a match.

If we ever do learn his markers, I'm sure he would join the surname project.-- Here is my pedigree Chart. --

Hi scott. I remember going to Homer and Lou's house in Ohio when I was little. They were railroad tracks right behind their house and we used to play on them. Does your father-in-law remember anything about Charles and Eliza? I do have a copy of their marriage license, but I'm trying to find more about Charles' parents. I know he came from Ireland, but I don't know when or where he was from in Ireland. Can't seem to find anything on him, other than I have his name as James Carrigan. I'd like to know anything you can tell me about Charles or his parents.

She was a devout attendant of St. Patrick's churcha nd was one of the oldest members of the Blessed Virgin sodality of the parish. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

As far as I know there is no Sarah in the family. Her siblings were Florence b. Aug 1882, George b. July 1888, Lillian, Joseph, Robert. There parents were Thomas Carrigan b Oct 1856 New York & Margaret (Elizabeth) Cassoson b. Sept 1860 Germany.

This is all I know.

We may have corresponded before. Thomas, tne son of Daniel Hair and Esther Robinson, married Martha Carrigan daughter of James Carrigan and Isobel Brown. Thomas and martha moved to Kentucky from Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Their two children, Martha and William Carrigan Hayre have many descendants in Kentucky.
