I have a 20+ yr Carrolls from Cork mystery. My grgrgrandfather was Daniel Carroll fr Cork. He was married to Ann or Catherine Rosley and they had 7 sons. I'm quite sure Daniel and Ann/Catherine stayed in Ireland, but the boys (or at least some of them) came to America. I have located 3 of them, one of them my grgrgrandfather. The 3 brothers all came to Boston. I know of Michael, Timothy and Daniel. There was a John Carroll & a James Carroll who were godfathers to some of the children born here in Boston, but they disappeared about 1860. I checked every John & James death in Massachusetts and am sure they left the state. I have been able to narrow down the area of Cork because of the unusual Rosley name. I have been to NLI in Dublin but didn't have enough time to find the marriage or births of the boys. I went through just one parish and need to get back for more, but that won't be for quite some time. Have you been able to narrow down the area of Cork? Does any of this sound familiar?
