Helen Henningson Carron Converse was my grandmother and was sent to her grandmother when her mother was pregnant with Mary Ann Carron Migues. Her Grandmother Maddie Henningson was married to John Carron. She was called Madam John and is buried in Washington Louisiana. When Mary was born they would not send Helen back and she was raised there until she went to Alexandria for nursing school where she met Carrol Converse. Skip Converse is Carroll Hooke Converse Jr. and his sister was my mother Agnes Helen Converse Andrews. She married Elmore Hynson Andrews and has 4 children Helen Karon, Terry Hynson, David Lee and Elizabeth Ann.

You mentioned that your uncle in St. Louis has been researching the Carrons from Ste. Genevieve Co., MO., for some time. Would you please ask him if he knows anything about the families of Charles Carron who married Christin(y) Dorway in Ste. Genevieve Co., MO, on Mar 8, 1880? I have been led to believe that she and two of her children died of smallpox before 1883 and that the three Carrons are buried either in Ruma or Renault, IL. Charles was living in Renault in 1899 when his remaining child, Christine Jennifer, married Rudolf Brase at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Horse Prairie, IL.

Re: Carron/Drury

Your Anna Drury was born in 1900 to my grandfather's older sister, Philomena Carron (May 1867-July 1946) and her husband Damase Drury (Dec 1854-Dec 1923). Damase had an older brother, Eli F (b.1853), who became a physician by the 1880 census and was in the State Lunatic Asylum in the 1900 census until his death in 1928. He was never married. I think he is the cause of the confusion, but there is also an Elliot Drury married to a Mary Philomena Carron (older) that is also confusing. Elliot and Mary P have a tombstone together.
Damase had 2 younger brothers, Eloy Edward(May 1854-Apr 1930) and Francis Leo(May 1860-Nov 1928). Damase had 4 younger sisters: Louise, Isabelle, Lena and Amanda (all born in the 1860's). Damase Drury is the son of John Drury (b~1822) and Desile Boyer (b~1826). You will find Desile spelled anyway from just the letter E to Cecilia and many version with z's in it.
Philomena Carron (May 1867-Jul 1946) is the daughter of Adolph Pierre Carron (Dec 1844-Mar 1915) and Mary Lawrence (Dec 1842-Apr 1919) (born in Baden, Germany). They had a total of 10 children, 9 lived to adulthood, married and had lots of children.
Damase & Philomena had 9 children: Oliver (Aug 1889-Mar 1915), Mabel (Feb 1894-before 1982), Grace (Jul 1896-???), Edwin (Oct 1898-Sep 1973), Anna (Dec 1900-Mar 1989[your dates]), Irene (1903/04-???), Loretta (Sep 1905-Sep 1990[single]), Adrian (Sept 1907-Aug 1966).

Hope this helps fill in some of the gaps ...

Hi,
I am looking to clarify some of my information on my Grandmothers family. She was Anna Marie (Drury) Hess. She was born in Missouri Dec 1, 1900 and she died March 25, 1989 in Ohio. Her mother was Philomena (Carron) Drury born in St. Genevieve, Missouri. My fathers sister tells me their grandfather was Damase Drury, but I see where alot of people have down that she was married to John Ely Drury. Any one have information on this line. I did once visit relatives when I was around 10 in Festus, Crystal City, and St. Genevieve with my family. We met an uncle Felix i believe. The only name I can remember from the visit. Ant information would be greatly appreciated.
thankyou,
Alison

You don't provide much info but I have managed to find Charles and Stella Fox living at Newport, Orleans Co., Vermont in the 1900 census - this is what it says;
Charles Fox aged 47 born Oct 1852 VT
Stella O Fox aged 55 bor Apr 1845 VT
Earl W Fox aged 17 born Mar 1884 VT
Mabel L Fox aged 15 born Nov 1885 VT

The 1900 census states that Charles and Stella have been married for 19 years so that suggests a marriage around 1881. Stella has had 2 children, both living.

I wasn't able to locate Estella/Stella Carron in any prior or later census but I did find Charles and his parents in the 1870 and 1880 census for Newport, Orleans Co VT;
Horace/Hosea Fox born abt 1830 VT
Caroline Fox born abt 1830 VT
Charles Fox
Maretta Fox born abt 1860 VT
Eva Fox born abt 1863 VT
Adelbert Fox born bt 1864 VT
Dennis Fox born abt 1867 VT

Have you tried the Newport Town Clerk for a marriage for Stella Carron and Charles Fox? What about Earl and Mabel's birth records? Or perhaps Stella and Charles' death records? Maybe Mable Fox married in Newport VT, her marriage might provide some further info?

I'm interested in your Carron, if you find out anything more about Estella/Stella Carron's family I would appreciate hearing from you.

Email me at pete.lodge@xtra.co.nz

Thanks
Janice

Hi Belinda ,

I just found your post on Ancestry. I know it was a long time ago, Are you still researching the Carron Family? Eulalie was also my G grandmother, but I have no further info on her. At some point I did find her middle name to be Lucy or Lucie but am not organized enough to find my source on that. If you have learned any more about her I would appreciate you sharing.
What I do know is she married Rene Victor Breuille ( Born in France) in 1884. They had, I believe, seven children, Lucille, Pearl, Victor D, Lawrence, Juanita, Denis (?), and Lillian Josephine. Lillian was my grandmother, she married Michael Joseph O'shea (Born Cork Ireland). They had two children Rosemary and Patricia. Patricia was my Mother. She married Howard Collyer Gale.
I will gladly share any other info I have on this line of my family if you need it.
Would love to connect or gather information on an Aunt I have never met --Janice T. Carroll. She is the daughter of Agnes Carroll Rocheleau. I have no information on Agnes' first marriage but her 2nd one was to George Rocheleau around 1935 in Worcester Mass. All's I know is that she lived in Worcester, Massachusetts. I'm not sure if she ever married. She should be in her late 70's. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I wrote you a long email.

I am not sure of her birthplace. I have also had conflicting names. Such as Mae, Anne, and Elderine. All these names have shown the same childrens names though.

Unfortunatly, my fathers siblings have a few of the same names as mom side. Makes it difficult to tell the difference.

Thanks for helping me. I was lost before, you have now answered some of my questions.

I profusely thank you again for looking for those pictures. It looks like Jacqueline is Violet's daughter (Elderine's sister) a cousin. What state did your mother live in when she passed so that I may add the information to the family tree. By chance while I'm asking, her date and place of birth. Please feel free to look at the tree for accuracy and email me at stgeorgel@comcast.net whenever you like as well as posting to this thread in case you want more privacy. Just a side note I lived in California prior to moving to Connecticut in 1984 and then moving to El Paso, Texas and now residing in Maryland. How about you?

Thanks cousin,

Liza (Raymond) St. George

I would like to profusely thank you! Can I offer to have copies made? Is there anything that I can do? I have added everything that I have been able to find into the Family Trees. Please look at them for accuracy. The one thing that I don't understand is that I found Census records indicating that Elderine (grandmother) being born in Vermont by my dad's birth certificate states she was born in Hartford, CT. Any thoughts?

Hi!!!! Ok....first I would be a neice, Mary. Nice to meet you as well.

Second James and my mom were close, we actually lived near each other most of his life. He commited suicide several years back. I am not sure of the year. But he was living in California. Elderine as far as I know died in Conn., I dont know anything else, I met her once. I did post to another thread of yours a little bit about her visit to us.

My mom passed away in 12-21-02, she had a rare cancer. She went quickly. And was a young 60.

My mom never really mentioned all the names of her siblings. I do remember a Gloria and Peggy. But just talk. I did write to J Perkins a little bit, and then stopped. She was, I think, actually Elderine's (our grandmother) sister?

I will look for pictures for you and your dad tonight.

Liza, guess you and I are first cousins. My mom was Elderine. She was never adopted out, just ran from home to home. I know in the mid 80's she found "their" mom and actually flew her from Conn. to California where we were living at the time. I know I have one picture somewhere of her from the visit. I was told she died not long after the visit.

I do have a couple of pictures of some people whom I think may be their parents. I will go through the boxes. Maybe your father will notice something.
Ok, so I believe we are second cousins? My Dad Michael Patrick Raymond is Elderine's son (one of seven adopted out). My father is seeking only a picture of his mom and his dad, can you help? I do have information on where peggy and cathy resided at least in 1984 when we lived there briefly. In order to avoid confusion, my husband's name appears as the member, but both he and I are searching our ancestory and my name is Liza. I have also placed a post to M. Carney in case you'd like to take a peek.

Thank you so much!

Ok, just for clarity, my dad said one of his sisters names was Betty, this means she went by Elizabeth (as you stated), thereby making you my dad's nephew and making you my cousin! Pleased to meet you! Do you know when/where James died so I can look up that obituary, Elderine's obituary as well, and the biggie here for me is is your mother still with us and do you have a picture of her you'd be willing to part with to give to my dad and I can send one of my dad to your mom? Do you have any info on gloria or william? Cathy lived in 1984 in plainfield and peggy lived in new Brittain. We lived there 2 years in the 80's and did have a chance to meet with both of them. I am so excited, can you tell! Thank you so much. In addition, I saw you corresponded with jacqueline perkins but her e-mail is not valid - do you have any way of finding out if she is still available to contact me?

Thank you very very much!

I found Mary Nathalie Carron's name referenced in my grandmothers French Bible and would like to try to understnd how my grandmother Leah Verret and Mary Carron might have become friends.
Thanks

I am also researching the Caron/Carron line in LA. I have always been told that my great grandfather was born in LA and that my g-g-grandparents came to New Orleans from France, but all I know is that my g-g-grandfather's name is supposedly Louis. Ring any bells? Please contact me if you know anything or want to share what I do have. Thanks!
