I am researching my father-in-law's family. His gg-grandfather, Samuel Carson, arrived in Philadelphia aboard the ship Kalamazoo on 1 October 1850 with his wife, Ruth (maiden name unknown) and four children: Alexander, Margaret, Wiliam, and Ruth. Samuel was born approximately 1795 and died prior to the 1860 US Census. Ruth was born about 1808 and died (I believe) about 1866. The family may have been from County Monaghan, Ireland.

Alexander married Rachel McCrea and had children Alexander Lincoln, George Washington, William Samuel, Jane M., David Garfield, George G., and Walter D. George W., William, and Jane died in childhood. Rachel was born in Canada.

William (s/o Samuel) married Mary Elizabeth Krisher in 1867. They had children Alexander, John Krisher, William, Ruth, Mary Emma, George Brooks, Rachel Wolf, Benjamin Franklin, and Martha. William, Ruth, George, Benjamin, and Martha died in childhood. I do not yet know who Mary's parents were, and she was likely born in New Jersey.

Ruth (d/o Samuel) married David McKibbin about 1874. They had children Robert John Edgar, Alexander Carson, Sarah Jane, David, and William Alexander. Alexander died in childhood.

I have no further information on Margaret (d/o Samuel) other than her age when she arrived in the USA.

William and Mary's son, John Krisher, married Caroline Povey. Caroline was born in March 1876. Her parents may have been Walter Povey and Agnes Jane (maiden name unknown). William and Mary had children John, Ruth, Mildred, Lalen, and Esther. Lalen was my father-in-law's father.
