My grandfather was Clemente Cartagena, he was born on Jan 20 1910 in Coamo Puerto Rico, if I'm not mistaken he had a sister that lived in the states. If you have more information about her reply to this message maybe I can find more info with my family members.

I have a cousin named Marcial Cartagena. I believe he either lives in Barranquitas or Bayamon. I don't know if it is the same Marcial you are talking about. I am looking for a man by the name of Gilbert Cartagena who lived in Atlantic City, NJ around 1979. He could be living in Puerto Rico now or maybe in New Jersey. He is between 39-49 years old and lived on Iowa Ave in Atlantic City. Gilbert knew a girl at that time who lived around the corner from him by the name of Teresa Bradley, she was 14 or 15 at the time.

I am trying to find out information on my grandfather. He was born in Ponce, PUerto Rico. From his social security death record I have concluded that he died on Nov 20, 2001 in Tucson, AZ.

From my understanding he married my grandmother Aurora Treviso in abt 1944 and they lived in El Paso, Texas.

They had two children George and Maria.

My grandfather was in the miltary and discharged on Nov 6, 1944 in Fort Dix, New Jersey.

From what my mother tells me, he married another women, while married to my grandmother. With this other women he had a daughter.

Hi:

I received your message regarding your maternal grandfather, Mr. Sixto Pereira. It might be possible you and me are on the right track.

When my father came from Vieques, Puerto Rico, where he was borned, he came to live in Río Piedras. The problem is that I don't know anybody with our surname in Río Piedras. My father was a professional electrician and movie operator. He met my mother (from Coamo) Antonia Cartagena. Both of them passed away. My mother was a homemaker. Besides that, I can tell you that my father died poor because he did not make a fortune, even though he did have the chance. He was a very intelligent man, a great father, and a great husband. The problem was that he was an alcoholic and all the money he received, after paying rent, our education in a private school, paying for food, and other necessities, he just drank it all.

The only people who knew him when he was being raised in Vieques, do not have a clear recollection of the names of my father's brothers and sisters. The only name which I have a vague recollection, which I'm not sure is correct, is the name of Cristina Pereira.

Maybe if you ask your grandfather a little more information maybe we could come to a more strong information.

Por cierto, me había olvidado que cuando estaba buscando información sobre mi padre, hice contacto con una persona del pueblo de Gurabo, quien me dijo que en Caguas, un pueblo cercano a Río Piedras, hay personas de apellido Pereira. Me recordé de lo que me dijo sobre lo que le dijo su padre de que algunos Pereira habían hecho su vida y fortuna en Río Piedras y en sitios cercanos. Mañana voy a llamar a esa persona a ver si me consiguió más información.

My experiences in meeting other families with the Cartagena surname,is that their families originated from Puerto Rico.

The Cartagena name in my family comes from the Philippines. My Grandfather (deceased), Pablo Cartagena, immigrated from the Philipines in the 1920's.

He married my Grandmother (deceased) who was Mexican from Bovina Texas. They had one son, my dad.

My immediate family consist of two girls and four boys. We all live in the Long Beach-Southbay area of Los Angeles. That is except my former sister-in-law and my nephew and niece that are out in San Bernadino.

That's a general overview of my family.
