Looking for info on Carters: Neil and Frances Smith Carter of Maxton, Robeson Co, NC. John Wesley Carter, son of Neil and Frances, was orig frm Lumberton area as a farmer and ran a mercantile store in Maxton. His grandparents were Zack Carter and Elizabeth Lamb, who lived in Lumberton tho buried in Britts (Rice Family Cemetery). G-grandparents were John Carter b. 1790 and Martha Tucker. Their families migrated to Bladen/Robeson County frm VA in the 1840s. Zachariah and Neil served together in the Civil War; much on him at Find A Grave. Can't find John Carter's origins in VA, altho he married Martha in Robeson on Mar 2, 1816. Other children: Asenath Carter b. 1818 m. Claiborne Ivey. Alice Carter b. 1820. Alexander Carter b. 1822 m. Sarah Herring and Ora ?(2d wife). Harriett Carter b. 1826 m. Wm. Rice. Henry Carter b. 1830 m. Delaney Hardin; died in Civil War; Thomas Carter b. 1840, died in Civil War. Henry B. Carter b. 1880, son of Wm J Carter b. 1859 and Elizabeth Herrin (Stanly Co, NC) moved to central FL (Lakeland). Henry was under Alex Carter's line. Know there is much on Henry B. and Lucy Moody Carter and Leonard C Carter I/II of Polk, FL. There are many TREES from these but want to find common thread to JOHN and Martha Carter prior to 1790. Any help appreciated. PLEASE. May have done Y-DNA thru Leonard Carter Jr m. Ann Edwards, of Lakeland FL. Thanks!
