Guy Warren Cartwright/Cartright

I have come up against a door and can not decide further in what possible direction to go. Perhaps someone out there might have the missing information I seek. My G. Grandfather was George L. Cartwright (wife: "Mary" Elizabeth Ann Cline) They had 6 children. According to the family Bible Mary Elizabeth Ann Cline was B: 1865 Ks. and Died: Jan. 5, 1898. One of their Children was my grandfather: Guy W. Cartwright Born August 25, 1898 (SOURCE: the Cartwright family Bible and 1910 Mo. census). He lied about his age as much as one changes their clothing. We know his age was not true when he joined the calvary in 1917. By 1918 he was married to Effie Roszelle McGinley and his fifth marriage was to my Grandmother; Jewel Ione Hen(n)ington in 1933 in Jackson, Mo. I know of four of his marriages and have met Jack Cartwright-Martin who was Guy's son by his marrage to Margie Howell which produced two sons(one Stillborn- both now deceased). Another (noted in his Bible was to "Ella" and son Guy William Cartwright came into the world. Unfortunately, he also has passed on. There is yet 3-4 marriages to discover for Guy Cartwright/Cartright. can anyone help me with further infomation out there? I would be eternally grateful. Good luck with your research...Marie at RavenWindDancer@yahoo.com

Tom...I've only been able to track Clifford and Audrey through the 1930 Census with reliable sources....I have a notation from my Great Grandmother's Address Index that Clifford died in 1967 and have found his FAG Memorial at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin MO...but haven't been able to find any other reliable source to document. I have sent a message to the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery requesting location of Clifford's grave and if they have Audrey also buried there...but have not yet received a response. Do you have a death date and location of death for your Great Grandmother? Thanks so much. Sharen in Eufaula OK

I was born in 02/1944. He died when I was about 1yr. So far I cannot find no marrage or death certificate for him. Only have one picture of him in uniform. Captain, U.S. Army Air Corps.
Re: Robert CARTWRIGHT

Just saw your post. I don't believe that is his line. I believe his line begins in America with John Cartwright (1602-1670), a survivor of the Jamestown Massacre. His son was Robert Cartwright (1665-1720), his son was William Cartwright (1696-1753), and his son, was Robert Cartwright (1722-1809). Much of the evidence is provided in the DAR applications especially the Robert Cartwright Chapter. The first John Cartwright witnessed a contract between John Rolfe and was acquainted with Pocahantas. His father Abraham Cartwright was the King's Counsellor in charge of settler the colony of VA. Robert Cartwright, served in the Am. Rev. as well as the Indian Wars before he joined the Donelson Party.

I was surprised when I found this connection but all my research convinces that this is the branch that Robert Cartwright comes from and the one that i am descended from. If you have any more info or would like to exchange some info, please contact me at bobandmarilyn@cableone.net.

Sadie was my late wife's G-Grandmother.
From Sandie Larkin Hammer's notes.
Sadie was an orphan. The story goes that Sadie and her husband Larry Bannon were both orphans and neither was ever adopted. As far as we know Sadie was born in Pine Barren, Escambia, Florida. She was a wonderful person, very warm and loving. When I was young she would baby sit for me and I always felt so warm and comfortable in her home. Great grandma always made you feel really loved. One of my fondest memories is sitting in her back yard on Jackson St. in St. Paul eating watermelon and having a seed spitting contest. Sadie usually won!! She also did a southern type foot slapping dance that was quite the sight and sure to make you laugh. I don't believe Sadie had a very easy life, but I never once heard her complain. Sadie was surely an inspiration and loved very much. My Mother tells me that at one time Sadie and Larry lived on a farm, but that is all the information we have.
More information from Colleen(Barr) Weiss, Granddaughter. Colleen says that great grandma told her that she had siblings some of which include, Jane and Pearl. Sadie Said that her mother was cooking at the stove and that her clothes caught on fire and she died in front of the children. Supposedly Sadie was the youngest and when the rest got out of the places they were placed they were supposed to come and get her but they never did. There also is a bible that says Sadie(Cansadie) could also have been named Zadie(Canzadie).
Time line for Sadie
In 1900: Pensacola, Escambia, Florida
14 Jun 1905 in Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota
16 April 1910 in Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota
06 Nov 1912 Married Lake Crystal, Blue Earth County, Minnesota.
Her and Larry moved around a lot before settling in St. Paul, MN

These photos are of my Tennessee family and their families. My great grandparents were John Montgomery Keeton and Katie Jane Matthews Keeton and John Thomas Napier and Sallie Elizabeth Keller Napier. I will list other family surnames later in this message. The pictures are from several different lines and several different states. I am sending out the link to every family member whose email address that I have as well as posting it to message boards. Please feel free to send me any additional email addresses of anyone that you think may want to view these albums. Or you can forward this email with the links to them as the albums are public. Right now I have two albums on the web. I am in the process of having about 190 negatives made into prints. WWhen I get these back, I will scan and upload them into an album. If you know of someone who does not have access to the internet, but would like to view the albums, please feel free to show the pictures to them. My email address is:
juliekeeton1124@yahoo.com

Some of but not all of the family line surnames are: Keeton, Matthews, Napier, Keller, Sesler, Dillingham, Davidson, Cook, Moomey, Neely, Crunk, Cartwright, Cauthron, Roberts, Daniel, Stevenson, Glenn and more…..

Please make comments on the photos with your thoughts or ideas, even if you think that they won’t be helpful. The oddest things turn out to be great leads. Thanks everyone! Julie

Hi Lori,

Have just started (Aug 2011) researching my forebearers. I am the g-grandson of Wiliam Cartwright (1854-1926), grandson of the next William (1888-1978). I've read your posts, and remember my grandparents mentioning some of the surnames you've mentioned. Mary Ann Smith was born in PA,
but I've not located where yet. I can see you're way ahead of me in this pursuit, I guess we're related! My email is celticpete@aol.com
Thanks
Pete Cartwright
