Hello! Do you know the names of your grandmother Elvira Santiago's parents? Or when she was born? I found through research of my family a distant cousin named Elvira Santiago Roman who was born to Jose Santiago Perez and Elvira Roman Sanchez around 1915.

Cruz Casanas..my grandfather Rafael Casanas Viruet had 22 cuerdas in what they called La Succecion, in Don Alonso de Utuado. There is still family there, for sure I know of Juan Casanas one of the youngest of Juanchos sons, Juancho was my greate granfather I met him rode with him lots of times to the finca. I also remenber Teodosio Casanas, Aristides Casanas and Pipe Casanas. Too much info in my head.....

I just found this!!!! My name is Angel L. Cruz Casanas. My Grandfather was Rafael Casanas Viruet. His father was Juan (Juancho)Casanas, ready for this? He had the total of 42 sons and daughters. Five diffrent wifes. I got to know a lot of my granduncles. Juan, Jose, Tuta...etc. If someone reeds this answer please. And I know for a fact, well my granfather told me that his ancestorrs were from Canary Islands, tall, white, Silver heard, green and blue eyed. i know tales from Consuelo Casanas, Camuy Puerto Rico.

We never met but are related, based on your email to Elias, who I have been in contact with, on and off over the years. Am I right, you are son of Teodosio Casanas-Graulau, grandson of Teodosio Casanas-Delgado and great-grandson of Maria Magdalena Delgado-Jimenez. She was one of my grandmother's, Ana Maria Delgado Jimenez, older sisters; making me your father's 2nd cousin and us 2nd cousins once removed. You say you know about the "guy from Cuba"; is that Buenaventura Casanas-Delgado?? I was told about why he left but not what happened to him. You have spoken with Soldoina; is she still alive?? I once worked with a 2nd cousin of her husband, Adan Morell; her name is Antonia Galinda-Morell.

Hello my name is Edwin Casanas Lopez de Victoria I am the Grandson of Teodosio Casanas Delgado and Carmen Graulau and Genaro Lopez de Victoria and Antonia Alberty Reyes.

My parents are Teodosio Casanas Graulau and My Mother is Maria Mercedes Lopez de Victoria Alberty.

Yes they are two Teodosios's, Father and son guess you call HIM junior but they called hem TEO. Teodosio and his cousin Juanco Casanas had two farms next to each other. The farms were in Utuado Puerto Rico. They also lived in Camuy and Florida Puerto Rico. My mother comes Lares.

I read every letter on the board....for the people of CUBA it is true than your family line comes from Puerto Rico Utuado blood line of Buenaventura Casanas Morales and Maria Magdalena Delgado Jimenez 's. Teodosio Casanas brother left for CUBA long ago and I knew his name but still trying to find from my aunts and uncles his name.. My father told me story of his uncle who left for cuba.

I saw you on this web site and thought I could find you here. If I did something wrong pls say so and I will not write anymore. There is so much you dont know. I read this web site from all these casanas and was amazed. The guy from Cuba I know of his story. Teodosio told me.My father who passed away six months ago. Aminia also Died, and Spoke to Soldoina last night and our cousins and she doesnt have much time left either. I really hope to talk to you. If not that ok too. I will not return to this web site again.

I was browsing and read your email. Yes you are correct - grandpa Lolin's brohter is Teodosio. I never met him, but recall the family mentioning his name. Lolin was not married to my grandmother (Elvira Santiago) but out of that short and interesting stor- comes my father Salvador Casanas. Elvira also had another son by a different Casanas (related) I think a nephew, but I am not sure. He died few years back. His name was Angelo Casanas. I guess there are stories to be told about grandma Elvira. Any way from the stories I know the Casanas reputation (males) was that they were "mujeriegos" Is that true? My father is 77 and in relative good health. Where do you and your side of the casanas reside?

This is amazing. My husband is a Casanas and his parents are from Ariecbo and Untuado. And his Father is Salvador Casanas... Now, I know he has a huge family back in Puerto Rico. We live in Philly! I thought my father in law was the only Salvador.

My grandfather was Manolin (Dolores) Casanas. I am the daughter of Salvador Casanas. I know, I have lots of relatives that I have never met. I know of Titi Minerva ( has the same name) in California and Titi Mirtha , who lives in Port Charlottee, Florida. I also remember a tia Saro from Chicago. I am currently in Florida and about to move to New Mexico.

I guess we are distant cousins?

Estoy buscando familia Casañas de Cuba. Mi bis-abuela se llamaba Maria Amelia Casañas(1903-1999), hija de Beltran Casañas Dencause/Dencausse. Su abuelo era Juan Casañas (nacido en las Palmas Islas Canarias) Los hermanos de mi bis-abuela eran Beltran, Juana(1885-1956) y Jose Maria.

Mi bis-abuela tambien tiene a una prima que tambien se llama Maria Casañas y vive en New Jersey. Ella todavia tiene varios hermanos/ hermanas y sobrinos viviendo en Jaguey Grande, Matanzas, Cuba.

I am grandson of Juan Casanas Delgado son of Buenaventura Casanas, which came from Spain. My grandfather's brother is Lolin Casanas from Utuado (Don Alonso), he also lived in Connecticut. No, I am the daughter of Salvador Casanas. Son of Dolores Casanas. He is known as Lolin. Lolin fathers name was Buenaventura Casanas. My family comes from Italy via the Canary Islands. I am told some went to Cuba,and others to Venezuela.

Elias, my fathers name is Salvador Casanas, son of Dolores alias"Lolin Casanas" son of Buenaventura Casanas, my great gradfather. Salvador married Ana Elba Villanueva Ortega also from Utuado, P.R. Ana father (mi abuelo) Severo Villanueva Ruiz was at one time married to Magdalena Delgado. The children are the following:

Minerva Casanas Villanueva (married to Simon) living in FL USA
Lillian M. Casanas Villanueva (married to Pauwels) living in Maine USA

Carmen E. Casanas Villanueva, living in FL USA
Salvador Casanas Villanueva Jr. living in Ciales, Puerto Rico

On my father side we also have two half brothers name:

Oscar Casanas Gonzalez, living in Utuado, Puerto Rico

My paternal grandmothers name was Elvira Santiago- my father was born illegitimately to Dolores (Lolin" ) Casanas - who was my paternal grandfather.My fathers name is Salvador Casanas ( my brother has that name and his son also) My grandmother also had a child by a different casanas - his name was Angelo Casanas ( nickname jelo) - he died - but have children that are casanas also. He was my fathers half brother same last name but different Casanas fathers half brother. Same mother- Elvira Santiago. It is my understanding the family is from Arecibo- Utuado.

My name is Edelyn, and my mother is Mirtha Casanas, daughter of Dolores Casanas, who was son to Buenaventura Casanas & Magdalena Delgado Casanas. Hi, I saw your post. I have Casanas from Cuba as well. They were from Matanzas, Cuba. I know that there are still some cousins in that area of Cuba.

I have a Beltran Casanas who was from Cuba. He was the son of Juan Casanas. I believe Juan Casanas from from Canary Islands/Spain. Beltran Casanas married a woman by the name of Maxima Cordoves and they had the following children Maria Casanas(my great grandmother born 1903), Juana Casanas born 1885, Jose Maria Casanas and Beltran Casanas.

What was your paternal grandmother's name? My parents knew a Graulau family in Isabela, Puerto Rico. We're talking 1920s to 1930s. They had several children, and were originally from the neighboring town of Quebradillas.

My brother Domingo Casanas replied to you yesterday, and he told me of your inquiry. Domingo Casanas was our grandfather and he lived in Valle de Vinales , Pinar del Rio , Cuba. He married Antonia (I'm named after her), and had 12 children. His father originated from the Canary Islands. I hope this is helpful to you.

Hi! I was born in Pinar Del Rio Cuba, My grandfather born in the 1800's was my father's father. My father was bron in 1904 he already passed away.
We came to the United States in 1965 when I was only 8.
I don't know if you are looking for the same Domingo, but I was named after my grandfather.

From what I have heard, my grandfather had a brother that left Puerto Rico and went to Santa Clara. I think he started a Casanas clan there. They originated in Canary Island.

Hi Edelyn: My great grandmother was Maria Amelia Casanas born in 1903 in Jaguey Grande, Matazanas, Cuba. Her father was Beltran Casanas and his father was Juan Casanas. I was told that Juan Casanas was from Canary Islands and came to Cuba. Juan Casanas married Maria Dencausse, a woman of french descent.

I have been told that the sons of Buenaventura Casanas went to Puerto Rico but one went to Cuba. Do you know which one went to cuba. Do you know how may sons/daughters he had?? Any info is appreciated... Maggie

My Great Grand father was Beltran Casanas son of Juan Casanas and Maria Dencausse. Juan Casanas was from Spain (I was told from Las Palmas, Canary Is) Maria Dencausse was the daughter of a frenchman.

I know Beltran Casanas is buried in Cementario Colon in Havana and he died approx in 1933. Beltran had two sisters and two brothers: Justa Casanas who married _____Gomez, Maria Casanas(never married), Luis Casanas and Juan Casanas.

I also have a Casanas in my family which was from Cuba. According to my great grandmother he was originally from Canary Islands (She thought from Las Palmas, but was not certain.) His name was Juan Casanas married a cuban, Maria Dencausse and had son, Beltran Casanas Decausse who married Maxima Cordoves Asuncion.

If anything sound familiar, let me know. Any information you may have on Cuban Casanas is much appreciated.

If I am not mistaken, your Great Grandfather was the son of Buenaventura Casanas Morales who went from Canary Islands to Puerto Rico. He had one son who left and went to Cuba. I may be wrong. Don Buenaventura had one son that left and never returned.

FRench, i know that one of the brothers of my grandfather (salvadou CASANAS in Banyuls sur mer and Vinça in FRance) went to cuba during the spanish civil war. OUr family is now very restricted...
