Catherine's parents were Thomas Cashell from Waterford County Ireland and Bridget Scanlon, also from Ireland. I don't have a death date on Thomas but Bridget died on sep 26, 1894 in South Lake Linden (Hubbell), Houghton Co., MI.
Catherine was one of twelve children, and we believe born in Dublin. She married Emanuel Stephens and they had twelve children. Several of my "genealogical cousins" and I met at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Eagle Harbor, MI this past summer and dedicated a new grave stone for Emanuel, Kate and their daughter M.E.R. (don't know her name.)
Their daughter, Eliza, married Hugh Samuel White, my great-grandfather. His son Henry, along with his sister Elizabeth Jane and brother Emanuel, were later adopted by Eliza's second husband Albert Charles Conroy (she divorced Hugh shortly after he left the family to go to Butte, MT. I don't have any of the European records verified or documented. Still working on that.
