I was wondering if, in your research of the Cashell name, you had ever found the name changing to Cashin. My ggggrandfather enlisted in the British Army in 1798. It would appear that his name was Michael Cashell from the muster rolls. About ten years later his name becomes Cashin. In order for me to trace his family, I would need to know what his surname really was. When he was out-pensioned, his unit was in Youghal, Cork, in 1812. By the 1840's he was in Co. Offaly. About 1846 he was in Birmingham, England, and in 1850, in Stockport, England, where his daughter, born in Ireland, had emigrated. I have hired a researcher to see where he might have been about 1820. It would seem to me that because he spent so much time in Ireland after being out-pensioned, he might have been Irish by birth. Thanks, Jan
